A buddy of mine gave me this patern plane this week. He claimed it was a chaos. But I know its not. It looks to me like it's in the phoenix Family. But I can be sure. I plan on restoring it this winter. It will be nice to know for sure what I'm flying Thanks

Not a kaos for sure, but I don't think it's a phoenix either. Almost looks like an old Taurus without the canopy.

It's neither. How big is this ship, especially wingspan? Does it look to be 40 or 45 sized?

I am guessing that it is a King Kobra or a Cougar without the turtle deck. If you look at the rear end of the plane, the fuse is completely open to allow for the elevator pushrod to pass through. This is a Kobra/Cougar hallmark. However, if it is either, it appears to have been modified quite a bit: tail dragger, rounded fuse and blended nose/spinner joint.

I think I may have solved the mystery. I stumbled across this ad in an old model aviation. it looks to be the original triton without the canopy

Looks to me that it is the old Jand J Troublemaker. Put a canopy ridge on there then you'd have something! Greg
