Contest Quality Balsa - All Sold
What is the current situation regarding contest quality balsa, specifically the 4 inch wide, 1/16 inch thick by 36 inch stuff used for wing sheeting. I remember when I used to buy it, supplies were spotty at best, and quality was sometimes a bit iffy. I've noticed that Lone Start here in Texas is out of a lot of it, and the stuff on ebay is very expensive, with no 1/16 inch sheets offered at all..
Thanks for reply

RE: Contest Quality Balsa - All Sold
I just got some from Specialized Balsa.
He charged me $3.62 / sheet, weighed about 10 sheets, in the12-14g range.
If I wanted 12g or less he wanted $7.24 / sheet.
Really crazy.
Anyways I've got 45 sheets of 1/16 x 4 x 36 if you want it. Was gonna build a black magic but the guy canceled the kit on me after I had the wood. So I have no use for it right now.

RE: Contest Quality Balsa - All Sold
rm,
Thanks for reply. The reason I'm asking is that I have some inventory of contest balsa that I may sell, as I'm retiring from R/C pattern. I have over 80 sheets of the 1/16X4X36 and between 7 and 9 sheets of other thicknesses up to 3/8, 4 inch wide and some 1/20, 1/16, 1/8, and 3/16 in 3 inch wide by 36. I had no idea it was costing so much these days for really good stuff. I guess I'll get out the old scale and start weighing sheets, but I suspect most of it will be in the 11 to 13 gram range.

I could take some of that off your hands if the weight is good - I just got a set of foam cores that I need to sheet. I won't have a good address though until mid-December as I am buying a house and will be 'between houses' for a couple of weeks.
