RE: 3rd annual D2 vs D3 Ribs Shootout April 6-7 2013
Hey Jason,
Usually every contest has a practice day before the contest begins which is generally on Friday's after 12PM. This is to let the incoming pilots get familiar with the field and get a little practice in also. As far as a schedule of pattern events for District 3 you can go on the NSRCA website and you will see the link for the different districts all over the US. Go to the District 3 link and there you will find the contest calendar. On contest days try to be a the field by 8AM and this will give you plenty of time to get setup and maybe even get in a flight or two before the CD calls for the pilot meeting. There is always plenty of help at these contest and if your not sure about something just ask, you will get the help you need. So come on out to McDonough and fly with us, you'll have a great time and you will also get one hell of a rib dinner too. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Practice day is over ! So far today there were about fifteen pilots . The field was wet with plenty of mud in the morning but by noon the clouds discipated and the sun showed up, the wet and mud became manageable. The wind was light to none with the sky turning blue by 3 pm amd temps hovering around 65 degrees... We could not ask for better weather ! The single flight line got busy quick so a second line was opened. I managed to get at least 6 flights as things were running smoothly. Victor fired the grill at noon and had some hotdogs and some steaks ready to share with everyone and after lunch the rib smoking proccess was started and it smelled really good ! We were fortunate enough to see a brand new pattern plane design fly... More on that later, maybe the owner can fill in the info... At the end of the day when the sun had set Victor and myself flew our light equiped combat wings chasing each other around; I found myself at a disadvantage as his wing was way faster than mine but nonetheless it was fun ! And Marcio was at the
pits repairing his own wing, we shall meet up in the air again tomorrow ! It was a fun filled day with great people, can't wait

I've tried to post some pictures but RCU site has been having technical issues since Friday and is not allowing uploads...
Off the top of my head here are the 1st places:
FAI- Jason Shulman - flying his Epic !
Masters- Humberto Pomales
Advanced- Victor Diaz
Intermmediate - Cody Powell
Sportsman- James Shoenberger
It was Jason's Epic first contest and public appearance and let me tell you it looks awesome ! I have a couple of pictures and will try to post as soon as the technical issues are fixed. I did post one in F3A Team USA 2013 Facebook page...

Thanks to Victor and Co. for putting this on...I was a newbie, but never felt that way...Just a really nice group of people that were very helpful from the moment I unpacked the truck. I learned a bunch and will be back out to try it again...thanks! Jason

Victor and Marcio did a great job with the D2-D3 Shootout. A couple of hiccups and some 'nice' GA mud from Thursday and Friday's rain didn't hamper anything. The RIBS (and chicken) dinner was great and the movie was like the Sky was Falling lol. Thank you to all the US Team supporters at the contest too! Here's some pics from the event.
