I spend the day at the Culpeper field today. The runway is every bit as nice as the Harrisonburg field. It wide and about 700-800 ft long. I'm planning on bring my gen. for how ever need to charge . Hope we can all share our power. Hotel are about 7mile away and food too both off Va. rt 29.

Wes what has happen to you, has your blood thin down when you move from Va. to NC.. Well maybe a lite jacket wouldn't hurt.
It's like any other contest on the east coast from now on, lite jacket in the morning. At least in D2 area.

And bring a heavier jacket/sweatshirt, just in case the weather is like the D2 contests in the spring, much cooler than predicted. I've learned to always bring something heavier, just in case.

We had a couple of little surpises and a couple of big surprises. Welcome Mike Caglia to the East Coast! Mike came prepared and flew well. We enjoyed trading stories from the TOC days and looking forward to future contests on the East Coast. Congratutions to all the winners to include Mike Caglia FAI, George Asteris, Masters, Charles Simmons Advanced, Donald Labote Intermediate and Sportsman... my camera batteres were down maybe someone could post some pictures. I'm sure JR will have the final rundown.

Regards,
Don

So the other surprise (minor surprise) was Bill Holsten. Bill had been trying literally for the last few contests to make it up, and that he did. It was great seeing Bill back on the contest circuit and we (all of us) thank you for the hospitality of cook out on Saturday evening and sleeping arrangements at the field in his outstanding mobile facitliy. Good seeing Archie and Tara and and Dale. Am pleased to see Kevin right in the mix of it. We had a great time and thanks to Nick and Bill for scoring and line directing. THanks to Culpepper barnstormers (Vince Tobacco showed me a new emblem idea for the club which was very suiting for barn-storming). Although we did not have the time to check out the locale, we flew basically in the middle of a civil war era cavalry encampment adjacent to the famous battle (near the location of the largest cavalry battle of the civil war).

Other goings on were a close look at several Contra units that were on display and /or flown.

Cheers,
Don
