18th Annual Grand Strand Pattern Classic (2014 Spring Green Sea)
I didn't see anything started for this contest, and it's my first time going, so.... here we go.
Went out and got some final FL practice in today. Couldn't have asked for better weather to do so in, high 70's and light winds. Rich Bohn updated me as to the field and stuff as this is his first time at Green Sea as well and was glad he arrived there today for some practice.
Heading out 'early' in the morning and hope to get there around 2pm. More tomorrow.

It is out of D-3 (D-2 contest), but it's just over 7 hours from Orlando, so not any further than going to P-Cola for me.
I thought about Mocksville, and actually had plans to go, but pattern trumps IMAC, so Green Sea it is. Plus back to back IMAC might be too much for me lol.
Making good time and missing most of the Jax morning rush hour traffic, I arrived just after 1pm. Plenty of people at the field already practicing by then, and even one catching a nap during the afternoon It's looking like we will have a great turnout and weather to match.
2 packs are done charging and those will wait til the morning.

A full day of flying in the books with (hopefully) 2 more rounds tomorrow. A few of the classes have the top spots claimed, but there are still a couple up for grabs and plenty of others still battling for 2nd's and 3rd's. Winds variable off our backs most of the day made for some fun spin entries (usually cause it would shift a few maneuvers before the spin) and some not so 'soft' landings. Don Szczur reminded us to check our (glow) throttle servos, or replace ever 4.9 years. Rick Sweeney reminded us to land on the wheels before the rudder and Archie showed us that loaning a competitor (Joseph) your plane isn't a bad thing, but using wrong rudder in a spin is (best $2 I spent today) lol. And no, not a typo, we did have the same scores given for both of the first 2 rounds.
Enjoy the pics.

Sorry I missed it guys...., I was working on a Transmitter/servo trim problem. Which, turned out to be a combination of servo gear in the elevators and one bad servo on the right aileron. The pots/encoder in my 14MZ began freaking out with the addition of new stiff springs. I removed the stiff spring on Rudder, as it was the only one providing significant spontaneous problems in flight on all my palnes, lol.
Hope to see everyone in Mocksville.....
