Default Cadence - Another build

Yes, doing the glass route. Fuse and tail section has been done, wings, almost ready. Used 1/2oz cloth and Z-poxy finishing resin.
Here are a few more shots...

Himax Pro for power, rear mount (with small Hyde type mount incorporated). Jetti Spin 125 opto for control. Dual CF control horn for rudder (similar in concept to the Ralph Schwiezer CF control horn), BJ wing adjusters from F3AUnlimitted and CF wing tube and adjustable stab (along with other hardware and a power setup, 5400mh cells, cellpro charger, must thank Mike for help there). You can see a bit of the CF reinforcement inside. I had small Hitech servos mounted in the stab but came out tail heavy (before sanding etc.), moving to deps with a single JR8231 (same on ailerons and rudder). Old style Bolly CF landing gear and pants I managed to acquire from Australia.

Would this vacuum pump be sufficient for vacuum bagging the wings and belly pan?

That will work fine for sheeting foam cores. In fact I have used one of these recently and was very impressed.

Couple of quick follow up questions.

What is a source for the foam?

Is the vertical stab and rudder sheeted as 1 big piece and then the parts are cut out or as separate pieces (I.E. the upper stab, lower stab, and rudder)?

Ben,

I get 1lb density foam from Houston foam and plastics. You are correct about the vertical fin and rudder. This month's k-factor has a fairly detailed article on the plane and construction techniques.

Lofl,

Great job! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
It's been a few years since the prototype and as time has passed, several nice examples of the cadence have been built and flown.

Best regards,
Mark

I’m digging that “TeamChuck” sticker on your plane Mark!

A testament to your design Mark that fantastic planes are still being produced.

Mark,

Wanted to ask if you have a wood wing, stab, and turtle deck option? If not, do you know or recommend a place to get them cut?

I’ve only flown IMAC, but have wanted to transition over to pattern. I love building, and I’m excited that I found this one. It’s a great looking pattern plane you’ve designed!

Keith,

I'm glad you like the Cadence design. The plane has performed well in F3A for me.

I'm not sure where you might be able to get foam cores cut (maybe Eureka Aircraft Kits?) but I can supply you with the laser cad files, dwgs, etc for a small fee. I can recommend a good laser cutting service for the wood parts of the kit. Please send me an email if you are interested. [email protected]
The laser file includes all the templates for cutting the foam cores. The kit uses 12 foam cores (that includes the top and bottom fuse fins near the CG). If I still had some cores I would be happy to send them to you.

Best Regards,
Mark
