Default 2015 f3a worlds in switzerland website!

Hi All,

Here I go again! My name is Cindy Wickizer (Mother of team member, Brett Wickizer) and I've built a website in hopes of keeping the flying community informed and entertained about what's going on at The Worlds in Switzerland August 6th-16th. The team is now preparing, packing, crating, and gearing up for the flight over to Switzerland in the next couple of days.

If you'd like to get an idea of what's going on, please bookmark the website and stop in anytime to see what's happening. I'll do my best to keep you informed, along with lots of photos.

Spread the word . . . I welcome anybody from all countries to stop in and take a look, comment, and enjoy the site. As for our USA flying community, this is my way of saying 'thank you so much' for the outstanding support you have shown the team. I know they are headed over determined to reclaim the Gold for the USA!

Here's the website: http://teamusa2015.weebly.com/

I'll be getting there in time for the Opening Ceremonies on the 8th, but before that Mark will be sending along updates as they make their way there and get settled into practice mode. Game on!

In the meantime, feel free to visit the site where you can take a look back on the past Worlds, starting in 2009 in Portugal.

As with the prior WC this is much appreciated. Now if you could just convince someone to take a few videos

Oh, and enjoy the trip.

Just wanted to add that I will be blogging on the CK Aero blog as well. My updates will be more about our journey and personal troubles and triumphs along the way. You can go anywhere else and find out what's going on with the event itself. Our blog is aimed at being an inside look at what goes on with a competitor during the event. Mom will have all the cool pictures at teamusa2015.weebly.com

You can see my updates at www.CKAero.net/blog

We will also be trying to get some insight from other people at the event if possible.

CPLR looking strong. Team USA is 33 points out of first, but one more preliminary round left. Go team!

Do we know how many make the semis and then again the finals?

Top 20 for semis and top 10 for finals?

Very curious!

With the preliminaries done, Team USA is in first place with all four members making the semi-finals, CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!!!!!

It doesn't mean much at this stage but CPLR is first individually, Onda second with Andrew third. I hope this isn't a Deja Vu moment.......

Hi,
Are they taking the Junior + 2 from the senior team ?
That would be best 3 of 4 !!
I wouldn't have thought that was the case - but that is what they have posted !

Hi,
Just checked.
Best 3 of 4 seem right ;

' c) The team classification is established at the end of the competition (after the finals) by adding the numerical final placing of the best three team members of each nation. Teams are ranked from the lowest numerical scores to the highest, with complete three-competitor teams, ahead of two-competitor teams, which in turn are ranked ahead of one-competitor teams. In the case of a tie, the best individual placing decides the team ranking. '

I don't know how that'll work. I have not followed Pattern stuff all that long but I don't recall a Junior member scoring high enough to even get into the finals?

Joseph is #1 coming out of the Preliminary and will fly the Semi-Final with the other three members of the USA team. Who makes it out of that group of 30 to the final 10 is anybody's guess right now.

Hi,
It would seem that it will be based on final (finished) placings - whatever/whoever they turn out to be - best 3 if there is a junior.
Having a good junior could make a real difference.

You must be rooting for the home team????

While Joseph has done very well against other Juniors and a lot of the adult team members, flying against them is a whole different story than flying against CPLR, Onda and Jesky. Still it will be interesting to see what happens.

Hi,
Yes indeed, and happy to do so !!!!
I wouldn't write that young man off just yet !!
He has achieved his current results with all those guys in the field.
It will be interesting to see how he does with the F .

Not just "other juniors and a lot of adult team members" but every one there. Joseph S flew his prelims along with every one else. That's his placing after his prelims. I expect his flying to be as good in the semis and I doubt his placing will change that much. I expect Brett W will improve a little from his prelims and Andrew and Jason to stay solid.

Joseph, from terrific, top notch tutelage from his dad and a little input from some of us interested folks (judges) over the years has proven to be quite the Pattern pilot. This "mere boy" will win the Worlds in a few years IF he stays with it...of course that's just my opinion.

I believe the same was said about a young whippersnapper named Chip Hyde... and he's been pretty successful in pattern competition; including a WC!

Hi,
Well that young man, Joseph, held on to 10th right up to the 3rd last flight - a CPLR monster flight.
None the less an incredible result and he scores for team USA !!

He, Lassi Nurila and Gernot Bruckmann are this years big break-through pilots.
The future of F3A is bright - at the top end at least !!

Exactly! Having met Joseph face to face in Poland I thought there's a nice young man but I would never have expected him to be this good in F3A.

Lassi and Gernot have been in the European F3A scene for many years already but of course this is a big achievement for both of them. Lassi is making history here, since no one from Finland has ever made it to the F3A WC finals before.

Any body know who won the Team Championship? It's 18:46 MDT and the event was scheduled to be over at 17:00 in Switzerland, that would be 09:00 here in Utah. The dinner was supposed to be at 19:00 Swiss time which would have been 13:00 MDT. Still no posting on the official site or any others I can find except for a French blog talking about CPLR and there was a picture of the French team but I do not know French so I could not determine if they won the Team title as well.
