2016 Cajun Nats
Preparations are well underway for the 2016 Cajun Nats. In true Cajun fashion we will be hosting our 11th Annual Precision Aerobatics Fais-Do-do in Crowley, LA October 15th & 16th. The field opens for practice Thursday Oct 13th, and the fun begins that evening with our annual Jam session and wood fired pizza night. If you play an instrument or sing plan to join in it's all informal, or just enjoy the pizza by the campfire and sing along. Friday is open for practice, with a pilots dinner provided for all register pilots and their family. Followed by a seminar hosted by CK Aero, Brian Hebert and Brett Wickizer, with door prizes and possibly a raffle (more info to come on this) with proceeds and donations going to support their team USA effort for the World Championship. Saturday starts the competition with a pilots meeting at 9:00am sharp, and flying to start immediately after. Saturday evening is the Banquet for all registered pilots and their families, and includes a Cajun band playing Cajun, Zydeco, R&B, jazz, & Blues. Sunday winds up the competition with the trophy presentation in the afternoon. As usual, the Cajun Nats trophies are always unique and this year they fully live up to the reputation. "Come as a guest, but you'll leave as friends and family" Hope to see you'll there.

A preview of the trophies for this years Cajun Nats.
Can be presented on a trophy shelf with the stand, or take the top piece off the stand and screw it to the wall to hang the banner like a plaque.

Looking forward to seeing my Cajun Cousins again this year. I have the Olivia convinced we need to be there on Thursday for the song fest and pizza. By the way, congratulations on your placement at the Nats. Now MOVE UP. LOL. See you there.

If you are the District 6 points Champion this year, which it looks like you might be, you have to move up next year at the first contest. They made me move from Sportsman when that happened. Ron Shirley had to move up from Intermediate to Advanced when he won district champ last year. Just saying. Good luck.

I'll check into that. "Moving up", according to AMA, is encouraged after accumulating 100 AMA points..It used to be mandatory..I don't recall where NSRCA district points or district championship come into play.

Just about. The District Vice-president at that time (not Chuck) reminde me that he knew where I lived. Drag me with you HA HA. I have only placed third in two contests this year. I know you have won or placed second in every contest you have entered this year. I am just going to be playing catchup for the next year or so at least. See you in New Berlin?

Make plans to be at the Cajun Nats early this year. On Friday evening after the pilots dinner, Brian Hebert and Brett Wickizer will be presenting a seminar you won't want to miss. Brian will be discussing trimming and using his tools to properly set up an pattern plane. Brett will be discussing setup, importance of proper radio layout, and some of the challenges a pilot faces when preparing for a major event. From equipment issues, life issues , and mental preparation. They will be raffling off items during the seminar.
Donations will be taken at the seminar, with all those proceeds going to support Brett, and Brian's world competition event expenses.
Brian will also be premiering the new Allure Biplane at the Cajun Nats.
We also are planning the Thursday night Jam Session / wood fired pizza night again this year. So if your coming early you might as well plan to join us for a really great, fun evening by the fire pit, eating great pizza and enjoying the Jams session music. If you play and instrument or sing, bring your instrument, and plan to join in. Check out the videos from last year's jam session, and banquet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38zk3PDRK_E
All I can say is, this year's Cajun Nats events will be worth the extra hotel cost. Hotels should be easier to get this year as the Rice festival is not on the same weekend.
As before we will have a Friday night dinner for pilots and their families, and a Saturday night banquet with great food and an awesome band.
Contest is October 15th and 16th, but the fun starts Thursday October 13th when the field opens for practice, and Jam night, followed by practice on Friday with the pilots dinner and seminar that evening, and Competition starting Saturday morning and winding up Sunday afternoon on the 16th.

The Seminar to be put on by Brian Hebert, and Brett at this year's Cajun Nats on Friday evening, is shaping up to be something you'll kick yourself for not being there, but on top of that the New Allure Biplane, Brian's latest design, will fly it's maiden flight at the event. The menu for the Firday night supper will be chicken and sausage gumbo.

Wow, what fun we had at the Cajun Nats! My first, and for sure not my last. If you search the D-6 Facebook page, you can find a video of Don Ramsey tearing up a rug.....We will call him the Energizer rabbit! Thanks to the gracious hosts and the background folks that put this event on. 53 contestants! Next year it will be a 3 day contest...with more pilots for sure. See you there!
Gary
P.S. Special thanks to the co-CD's (and of course Leslie in scoring) for running the contest efficiently, despite the low hanging clouds myself and a couple of others experienced! (Keven?...lol).

Here's some Jam night highlights for the Cajun Nats. Rich Whitlow, Brian Hebert, and Dirk Mathern having fun. We went thru 12 large pizzas, smoked on the bar-b- que pit. What a blast.
