Default We've lost another gem

Friends, it is with great sadness that I must report the passing of Matt Kebabjian. He died peacefully in his sleep last night. He was 61 years old. We all know him as a competitor, a fine craftsman, and a contributor to the judging culture that we have now. He will be greatly missed. Funeral arrangements are pending

Hi,
Really, really sorry to read this.
Only know him through this forum but I have enjoyed many chats with him here and one just the other day.
He seemed very much his own person, an explorer not a follower. I frequently reference Matt when chatting to my modelling friends at home here.
I will miss him.

Dean, You're not talking about "MTK" are you?

Huge loss! May I add that in addition to other what others have said, I always gave him cred for pushing the envelope on gas in pattern and at the same time coming off as one of the most level-headed, generous, detailed and helpful modelers in this Forum. God bless and RIP MTK! Would love to know what he passed from, if anyone knows.

Crapp! Nice guy. I only knew him through the forum but like was said before me "one of the most level-headed, generous, detailed and helpful modelers in this Forum."

You will be missed greatly.

I couldn't believe it when I first read the news on the NSRCA list this evening. Matt was a good friend. We spent many times in his workshop in his NJ home and out at the flying field. Matt was a true craftsman, overflowing with knowledge and enthusiasm for the hobby. Truly one of a kind. Condolences to his family. He will be missed by many.

Wow. The past 6 months I spent quite a bit of time with Matt and he was really enjoying his recent retirement. He had a plethora of projects going in his shop, and still volunteered to help me out. I learned something from Matt every time we talked and his contributions to the RC community were immeasurable. RIP buddy and condolences to his family.

I hate to hear this. We exchanged some email recently discussing his retirement and possible move back to Florida. A great guy and important contributor to the sport.

So sad to hear to the loss of such a fine contributor to the hobby. I always enjoyed reading what he had to say whether it was just a comment or his skillful building techniques in the pattern forums. I crossed paths with Matt a couple of times when I lived in FL. attending the Jacksonville contests 98-99. He was very approachable to talk with I remember. My condolences go out to his family for their loss during this difficult time.

Man that's sad he should have been with us for another 20 years. I had a wonderful conversation with him just last week. I hadn't come across him before but as soon as he joined my thread I knew this was a guy who knew what he was talking about. I started reading his posts here and so far have got through half of them and made lots of bookmarks. A great legacy for the builders and an inspiration to those who would like to.

That's extremely sad news. Condolences to his family.

Living in Australia I never had the opportunity to meet Matt in person, but we exchanged many emails and messages over the last few years and he provided me with some excellent advice on building techniques. I will greatly miss his advice and contributions to pattern.

Fly straight Matt.
