I'm surprised there isn't a thread on the latest from BJ Craft: the Element.
I'm starting this thread to share comments and info.

I have one in my basement, but unfortunately it is not mine; I am building it for Joe Pirozzoli.
Joe's plane is straight and well-aligned. The kit was missing a couple of pieces of hardware and the ball-links were too sloppy to be used.
Motor will be a Pletty Advanced with 3-blade. Wing adjusters were added, but no other changes are planned. We should have a flight report inside of a couple of weeks.

No sense in doing a build thread - pretty standard BJ Craft design and construction. It appears to be an Agenda fuse with the wing moved to more of a mid-wing position with the appropriate decrease in dihedral. Perhaps a BJ team member could chime in with more info on changes and design features?

Per Mike Mueller, per AJ himself, the CG should be at the back of the wing tube.

Question: what should the canalyzer incidence be? It appears to be quite negative with respect to the wing.

This plane is now in stock and a new shipment being produced.ySo far the response from the early buyers has been very positive. I've even had 2 tell me it's the best plane they ever flew. One is a former F3A USA Champion not named Andrew Jesky.

Dan we are running with the wing set at +.7* and tcan at 0* in reference to the stabs at 0* it takes a little bit of space on the front to get the tcan set to this but feel this is the correct setting. Set the cg at the back of the tube to start and shift batteries for preference. We built 3 of these in 3 days and I have over 30 flights on mine in the first week. It is a great flying airplane. Feel free to pm me with any questions. With the plett 30-10 and some 5300mah 30c packs, mine came in at 4695g.

This is the other scheme we have the Essence/ Element. Nick Johnson sent these to us.
Nick, AC Glenn, and Parker Ferguson all received their planes on a Tuesday 2 weeks ago and had them in the air by Saturday. Built 3 planes together in 3 days. That's impressive!!!!.

Thank you guys for starting a thread on the element. I have been extremely pleased to work with Mr. BJ Park of BJ craft when producing the element.

The start of the element started with me flying a essence model. I knew the model had great potential in it and I just wanted to change a few components of it to suit my flying style a little better. First thing that you'll notice is the wing is moved up about 2" over the essence. For me this allows the plane to look like it's rolling a little more axial with wing near the thrust line.
The next thing was to use a modified agenda wing. I really like the way the agenda wing presented in the air and Locked in so we went with this wing and of course bigger ailerons for my faster style snaps.
The other change is going to a standard elevator instead of the full flying stab and going from 8 degrees anhedral to a straight stab with zero anhedral. This gave the model low mixing and a nice look while sitting on the ground.

Is the fin taller than on the essence?

The fin isn't any taller but the rudder does not have the cut in it like the essence so it acts like it has more fin area/lateral stability.

was there any thought given to eliminating the counterbalance i favor of fin area?
i have seen some people who did this mod after the fact.

I had not given it much thought as I do not mind the counter balance. For me, it does a couple things. First is allow me to make sure my rudder is straight as I use the top as a reference. Secondly, it allows the box that the airplane travels in to be shorter. Now a days, with how tall these planes are it makes it challenging to get it under the 115" limits that the airlines require for shipment. Silly as it sounds its a big help. I do have a new fuse I just got today and maybe I can play with this one and maybe do a rudder without the counterbalance.

The Essence scheme is to busy for my eyes on a sunny day. Andrew's scheme is gorgeous, but I'm not going to fly AJ's color scheme, no disrespect intended to AJ. The Agenda or Invitation scheme is better for me or can I just get an all white one? That's why I re-painted my Nuance, in certain attitudes I couldn't draw a reference line on the fuse in some maneuvers. Not trying to be a pain in the butt. However, if I'm going to spend 2.5k on a new air frame I would like some color options. I believe I ask you this question every year and I get the same answer, lol .

I wouldnt be opposed to it but I think that all depends on how many folks would purchase a GP version. If the demand is there I'm sure we could talk BJ into make a glow version.

Are most of you guys running the Canalyzer at Zero? I am still trying to fix a pitch to the belly on long up lines. Tried adding some upthrust, but it did not cure the problem. Plane is balanced at the wing bolts and my wing is at .6 relative to the stab at 0
