Default Oil for YS 185 CDI

Hi all,
I am about to start my new YS 185 CDI.
Here we have access to Morgan Heli 30% fuel and also Klotz 198 oil.
Which is the best oil for the YS 185 CDI?
Morgan LV? MV? Klotz 198?
Which oil does Rapicon use?
Can I dilute Morgan CoolPower Heli 30% Nitro / 23% oil, to get 10% oil?
Thanks for sharing your experience

All the YS users around here use the Morgan (Cool Power) 30% nitro LS (Low Smoke) Heli fuel. Works great on all my YS engines, 185, 175, and 170.

Gday Naftali,

I fly the YS185 CDI RED,
I mix my own fuel Morgans Multi Viscosity 12.5 % Oil and 30 % Nitro.
Runs like a dream and I get around 150 flights before bearings start to play up.

RAPICON uses 10 % oil and 30 % Nitro.

kind regards

Hello Mavros

150 flights, what is the duration per flight ?

On 175 CDI friends of mine and me use Meccamo 6 % oil 20 % nitro or Labema 9 % oil 25 % nitro.
I changed bearings about 250 flights of 15 mn.

Thank you guys for all the information.
I just found out that our Morgan distributer brings the MV fuel line, so for the break in I will use the regular 18% MV oil, 10% Nitro, then gradually lower oil content to get 10% MV oil / 20% Nitro for my 185 CDI.

What prop are you running?

I think the wide APC will be too much prop, especially only using 10-20% nitro.

I've considered the Mejzlik, but I think they are too heavy and not as efficient as the APC's.

I look forward to hearing your opinion on the 3 props.

The weight of those 3 props is as follows:
APC 21x10WPN - 171.3 gr
APC 21x10PNC "Carbon" - 126.4 gr
Mejzlik 21x10 Carbon - 117.6 gr (Including 8mm shaft bushing)
All 3 have a similar design, so I'll be surprised if there is a noticeable difference in performance.
The Mejzlik is the best looking.
Break in will hopefully start next week, maiden in about 2 months.

I think you will find there will be quite a difference in performance between the 3. Otherwise, there would be no point in having different size/design props. I've been using the APC 21 x 10PNC and a few weeks ago changed to the 21 x 10.5PNC. Well there was a huge difference in how the plane flew. I have now gone back to the 21 x 10 which is much better for my plane. I use 30% nitro as well.

I'm surprised at the weight of the Mejzlik, I thought it would be heavier than that, so that's good. Tip design is different to the APC, so will be interesting to see how that goes.
