Default 2017 NATS - Question about photo coverge

Hi -

I was wondering if anyone is aware of a FLICKR album or something similar showing photos of the pattern NATS which is currently taking place? I have not been able to find more than a handful of photos. In the past, the AMA would post a significant number of photos as the NATS was taking place, but so far, this year, they have only posted 5 images so far (2016 ~ 1000 photos, 2015 ~ 1200 photos). I have looked at the NSRCA site as well as their FB page and other than scores and standings I am not seeing anything. In my opinion, documenting these events through photos can help promote the sport.

Thanks,

Teo

I'm going up there tomorrow to spectate a bit. Does anyone know if there are any vendors on-site (F3AUnlimitied, etc.)?

Not sure if you will find many pics. Don't forget this year it's in Arkansas. So before the photographer was on site at Muncie to take pics. I have only seen a few people taking pics.

Teo, I have been sending video and stills to the AMA for their NATS news. They did not download all of what I sent for day one. Hopefully they will be able to send more of the pics that I've taken. I believe the NATS news only posts still pics and the video's will appear in some other format. I was asked by the CD for Precision Aerobatic NATS to help with this function as the event is being held at a location other than at the AMA site in Muncie, Indiana......thanks for the interest

Is there an internet site other than AMA providing coverage from Blythville and what is it?

I'm hoping for live coverage like what was provided for the last F3P event which was excellent.

Thanks, J e r

Any scores posted yet?

I can't remember when the coverage was this dismal for a pattern NATS.

Sounds like the photo coverage is there but not completely posted by the AMA. What would be nice is for all this to be somehow posted on the NSRCA website and more daily narrative as to what's going on that's interesting. That way we control the coverage and narrative to best benefit pattern. Flying Giants did a pretty good job of this on their IMAC NATS this year.

Claude, good question: Tim Jesky, his dad told me that he had to work and save his vacation time and money for the Worlds. Since this NATS was not a team selection event, he opted not to attend and save his money and vacation time.....
BTW some question earlier by Teo regarding "Flicker"....the photos are now posted there including all of day one... The AMA staff doing the reports have been fantastic working with me to get as much coverage of this event as possible, .
Mike Harrison talked me into providing the video and still coverage as best as I could or this event would have not had any NATS News coverage at all. AMA could not send any crews to this location for many understandable reasons. I volunteered to help out and borrowed and rented camera gear for the task.
It was an amazing experience taking the pics instead of being a competitor as in the many years past.
A tremendous amount of work by Mike Harrison and his team of volunteers to make this happen is hard to explain. Many of the competitors and attendees were pleased with the new venue and experience that it provided for everyone......Jay Gerber

Looking at the scoring pages, some notables names were not in attendance in several classes. Good to see Chip back at it.

Congrats to Jason.

Maybe next year.....

For the guy that took video's, at the Pattern Nat's, the best way for everyone too see them, is to post them to YouTube
That would by great, if you could..

Select the Precision Aerobatics link. As far as I know, the video is still in the process of being put together by the AMA.

Jay- BIG thanks to you and your wife for coming to the Nats and taking all the pictures, getting names for captions, documenting the banquet, etc. With 4 contest sites, an administrative center, and banquet it was a big job and you seemed to be everywhere at once. Not to mention surviving the heat....Thanks for all you did for us!

Thanks Jeff....I have to admit, it was a vicarious connection back to my days of competing as far back as NPAC and earlier. Chumming it up with Ron Chidgey was special.... and Mike Harrison who as a younger guy flew in contests that I was competing in years ago....credit goes to Mike for bringing the Precision Aerobatic NATS to Blytheville and for talking me into volunteering to do the coverage.
Again, I appreciate the thoughts and you can see all the photos www.flickr.com/photos/modelaircraft/albums/72157686703471436

Videos are still being sorted out by AMA
