Hi mature23,

For your info, I live in Hong Kong. Here are some of the more popular R/C shops in town with airplane stuff. Mind you if you are looking for car stuff, there are a lot more small shops in the Yaumatei (Dundas St./Kwong Wa St.) area.

Tak Cheong R/C Model Co.
G/F 252 Hollywood Rd.
Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
Telephone: +852 2-857-5021

Radar Co. Ltd. (entrance at the stair on a side street)
1/F Swire Maclaine House
19-23 Austin Avenue
Tsimshatsui, Kowloon
Telephone: +852 2-739-0577

Oriental Trading Company (a.k.a. Weigo; they have two shops nearby)
G/F 7-8 Tung Fong St.
Yaumatei, Kowloon
Telephone: +852 2-384-0005

Cheers ,

CF

Hi Fungcc,

Do you know any hobby shops in Hong Kong that selling "Aeromarine Laminates, Preditor .21cc - tunnel hull speed boat"? If you know please give me the contact details.

The boat is made in USA and quite difficult to get. Or if anybody from USA can recommend me how to purchase this boat..it would be very helpful...

Thanks

Hi Badrul and Keyway888,

Oppps, I was away for the Chinese new year and haven't noticed both of your posts until now.

Badrul:

I am not really vert familiar with the marine outlets here but you could try Profession Model[link=http://www.professionmodel.com](link)[/link] and give them an email.

Keyway888:

My feeling is flying pattern is becoming a niche in Hong Kong coz space for practice is a rarity here. Most of the flyers have to go to Guangdong, China to find their flying field. With plenty of hills, slope soaring is the thriving sport here.

Radar in my previous post is your best bet if you absolutely need a recommendation. At least, you will find the current crop of pattern engines like OS 140RX EFI, YS 140DZ, 3M Mintor 140.

Best of luck in your search.

Hi Fungcc,

Do you mind updating your list of quality shops in HK? I'm only looking for pattern stuff (MK, Hatori, Futaba, YS/OS, Tettra etc.).

Thanks

It is Radar's office address! The shop address is in Ngau Tau Kok adjacent to the Subway (MTR) station, check the address in the Web.

Let me provide a current update. Unless you live in a fantasy world, the only thing your going to save by buying in HK is the shipping. I have searched for 2 solid days and the prices here are no better than your LHS, or online, so take care of the little man and buy local. I would rather pay shipping that to walk around this overcrowed polluted city.
Sorry if that stepped on some toes but i'm not impressed.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Last time I visited the shops on kwong wah street and tung fong street I found some pretty good prices on futaba servos and rf modules. I think they were 10 - 15% below tower hobbies. I wanted the new bls 651 and they didn't have it. A friend of mine just bought some there and paid 770 hkd. That is $99 usd. Tower sells them for $119 before tax and shipping. That's an OK price. I've seen other things like 2.4FASST modules priced even better.

Checking in (reviving thread) to see if there are any additional thoughts/updates. I usually find myself in Hong Kong a couple times a month (big airplane habit supporting my small airplane habit) and thought it might be fun to check out the local shops...
