Tuned Pipe question
Hi
Has anyone had any experience with the Bolly 590r pipe and a O.S 140.
Is this Pipe used by Pattern flyers or is the 590r not up to it?.
What header lengths are being used?
does this pipe give board, non-peaky power throught out the RPM range
Thanks Anthony

RE: Tuned Pipe question
Anthony,
The Bolly MF590R is actually a muffler, not a tuned pipe. Many people use it on pattern planes. Go to this link and you can read some performance data and comments from some users.

It is a good combination as long as you don't need the extra 200-300 rpm that a tuned pipe would give. Also, you would run it full length and it would give you a very good non-peaky power range.

RE: Tuned Pipe question
Anthony,
I have this exact setup on my 10.5lb Entropy and I love it. Transition is as smooth as silk. Since the Bolly is basically like a big muffler you do not have to worry about pipe length. I have a macs header full length followed by the Bolly pipe and the engine ran perfect right out of the box. Running a 17-12 on Powermaster 15% turning around 7700 - 7800 the engine runs so cool(temp wise) it's unbelievable. This setup is so simple, you will spend more time flying and less time dickering.

RE: Tuned Pipe question
You will have a terrible mid range, not recommended.
You may also face over heating, if your setup is not right.
check http://www.osengines.com/faq/product-faq.html#q266 .
Why not get a suitable pipe that breaths enough! There are plenty of choices available.
On the other hand, a 60-size pipe like Hatori 650 is very good for OS 91 FX. Been there, done that
