Default JR dual output servo

I managed to get access to this new servo. The problem with all dual elevator set-up's is that you need two servos or a split pushrod.

This servo allows you to mount it where the fuselage width matches the servo height. You can remove, (cut-off), the mounting lugs as needed. It gives you equally matched servo ams. It has a common output shaft so you need to make the pushrod links to the elevator horns adjustable.

According to Japan it was originally intended for ailerons that wanted a pushrod above and below the wing.

It is rated the same as the 8411. I think that it has nylon gears. I don't know which gear sets are compatible or if they used gear trains that we are familir with.

I hope to get my hands on one in about a week.

Regards,

Eric.

Does it really come with busted mounts and no screws holding it together?

I would expect he got to see (and photograph) one that some one pulled from thier model... not one in the local hobby shop. [&:]

Looks like a slick answer to an old problem to me.

I thought you guys would like a bit of April 1st humor.

Although the mock-up is not funtional the concept could be attractive to 2-meter planes with split elevators. I wonder if we could get JR to consider the idea. An 8611x2 would be fun.

I have been playing with the idea of making a "transaxle" with splines on each end, that would bolt onto the front of a servo. It would take a 1-1 drive direct from the output gear. Just need a few more rainy days :-)

Sorry I didn't come back with a response sooner but I drove to Myrtle Beach yesterday. It's only 41 miles less than the drive to Muncie from NJ. The weather is good down here this weekend and Earl Vincent is running a contest. Should get to fly my Focus-2 if I can only remember the schedule!

I borrowed Earl's computer to write this note.

Bye for now,

Eric.

I think you are onto something there Eric. With the popularity of split elevators on just about everything these days, that could be quite a sellable product. Various sizes (mini-jumbo) offered with either 1 plug (with built in adjustable reverser for simple 4 channel radios), or 2 plugs (for the 9c, 9z, 10x, etc) to take advantage of the computer programming. I like the idea of a "modular" type mount, where you could mount like a standard servo, or by adding a precast block, being able to top or bottom mount. It should be a pretty easy deal to create, just design/mold a new case around existing parts(servo guts). Even offer it in an adjustable case, that would allow the overall width to be spread a little on GS planes, but still maintaining alignment. Linkages would be identical and easier to install, even for pull-pull systems.

This is an April Fools Joke that will inevitably hit the market in the next year. I'd be willing to split the royalties 50/50 with you Eric for improving on your wonderful idea.

My guess is that it would cost more than two 8611's puchased seperately.

Eric has waaay too much time on his hands.

I'm leaving for Green Sea 2morrow A.M. early, see you there. It's gonna be breezy, very breezy.

It was cold today but we flew a lot. The wind was west, north-west. There was about 15 pilots when I left the field tonight.

And I don't have way too much time. In fact I need more time to try things out..... :-)

Any one got an e-mail addres for JR in Japan??

Eric.

Eric are you serious about this type of servo? If you are it's just another example of pattern driving new technology's. If they did have a servo like that it would sure make the dual elevators easier to setup. Thanks for sharing the concept. Mike

The photo was a mock-up I did three months ago. The post on April 1 was fun-fiction.

This part of the post is real. I am serious about a servo like this. It would be so easy to install it and get great equality of throws from the servo arms. Maybe a "platform" that has the dual output shaft but takes different servos would be a better option?

Regards,

Eric.
