I found the Widebody 60/90 kit at rcsuperstore for $169 plus $15.00 for shipping. (www.rcsuperstore.com/widebody.htm)
Has anyone flown theirs yet?

Default Sunfly

The Sunfly is a very old design circa 1962 or so. I remember watching Jim Oddino and others fly them at Sepulveda Basin in Van Nuys, Ca back then. Joe Bridi's original Kaos kit was derived from the Sunfly and is a much better airplane. I know the stab on the Sunfly had a habit of flutter and breaking off if the speed was high, however, later kits may have this fixed. I believe the wood the stab was cut from was too thin. This is a one piece flat sheet stab. The Kaos fixed this problem with a simple, flat built up structure that was much stronger. The Sunfly could be easily done the same way. Previous comments about Joe's kits are accurate....they require a lot of carving and sanding and if I remember correctly, the XLT had a problem in the nose/firewall area that required some reengineering to allow mounting a Rossi 60/Webra Speed 61 rear exaust. If you build one of these, replace the wing sheeting with the lightest balsa you can find and use contact glue to sheet it to save weight. Most of the fuselage wood needs to be swept off the workshop floor after carving most of it away....especially the fin/rudder and stab/elevator to help with a tail heavy condition. A nose wheel retract helps too. Be CAREFUL....this plane can get heavy real quick. It flys pretty fast with a good engine but is just so-so on aerobatics. The straight trailing edge wing ain't helping a bit with this.
The best of Joe's kits probably is the Great Escape....the original Escape was modified by Bill Cunningham from Tulsa, Ok. and I believe Joe encorporated those changes to the kit. I have flown the Escape and it's a pretty decent flying plane considering the design is 15 years old. Keep this one light too.
Have Fun
Dave

Hi, OK Models makes a .90 size Seduction. Not a freestyle design, but a 'normal' pattern plane.

Hm... Maybe I'll have to build me a seduction freestyle as my 40-size plane, your's looks asbsolutely wonderful!

According to the link, that kit has an ABS cowl and wheel pants. The Planes Plus kit includes fiberglass parts...that probably explains the $30 delta.

Hi all!

Not sure about the price, but I can tell you that these people really know their stuff and sell one QUALITY kit!!! You may not have heard of them before, but I have a couple of their kits and let me tell you, they fly awesome!! I have NEVER seen a better quality kit, bar none!! No, I am NOT an employee or paid shill for this company, just trying to spread the word about QUALITY in these days of who can build faster/cheaper. If you are discriminating about how your plane builds and flies, the kits from Zimpro are definately worth taking a look at. Just my .02 cents' worth. here is a link to their website and a picture of my just completed Zimpro CAP 21. w.s. 63", balsa sheeted, glassed and painted w/ PPG. 8 lbs. ready to fly (my fault, first attempt at glass and paint). Powered by Saito .91 w/ Slimline pitts muffler. This baby flies like she is on rails! ( I know, somebody needs to come up with a new one for that!!!) NO bad (CAP)snapping tendencies, just floats in like a feather!! All the guys at the field still watch in amazement as I slow that CAP down for a light three-point landing! http://www.pub.nxs.net/dehunt/pattern.htm

Regards,

Jeff

Default Mistake

I should have been more spacific. On the website, it said ABS cowl and pants. That was wrong. It is now changed to fiber glass.

You have something to do with selling the Widebody? You work with the guys that was selling them at the Joe Nall? If so, I need a set of wheelpants. I have two rights (or two lefts - can't remember).

Thanks,

Pug

Hi,

just to change the subject slightly, I've just been quoted 800 sterling ($1200!!) for a Hirobo Stream 90 here in the UK!! Does anyone know how much this plane retails for in the States and where would be the best place to get one from?

This plane had better be the best F3A model EVER if it really does cost twice as much as the ZN Synergy...

thanks.

Default Price question

I see that the parts listed at the RCSuperstore website are listed as fiberglass but I also notice that the price is now $189 + shipping. Is this a new higher price for the kit?

Default 2 other 90 sized planes to consider

I've been looking at getting a 90 sized pattern plane to kick around myself. I have 2 meter pattern planes but I really enjoy smaller simpiler options to fly. I have a Seduction FS that while its really nice is a little too small for my tastes and I'm going to sell it. I've been reading this thread and I too like the Widebody 60 and might very well build one. I found this plane being sold on ebay by an importer out of New York. Its a JR arf F3A 90 and it seems to be selling in the $350 range. You can check it out at this address:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1765995760
I also think that World Models has some nice 90 sized pattern planes:
http://www.airborne-models.com/html/zen90.html
http://www.airborne-models.com/html/taiji60.html
I wonder if anyone knows anything about the JR plane. The Ebay listing links you to the JR site for a better look. Thanks, Mike

Default Higer Price

The higher price is so we have room to go lower on our products for specials etc. It is not because of the fiberglass. They always had the fiberglass pants and cowl.

I told planes plus that I would send it back. Contact Don and tell him what happened, as long as you send him the extra it should not be a problem.

I've sent Planes Plus an email, so hopefully this won't be a problem. Fortunately I don't need it yet. Apparently whoever packed the kits was asleep at the wheel...

The Joe Bridi line of kits are still alive and well, Bluejay Aircraft is now the distributor. Unfortunately the one kit that I don't see on their site is the Great escape. If anyone knows where to get one let me know, Thanks, Joe
