Is OS140RX being replaced?
Call me crazy, but I get suspicious when engines are "unavailable" for such a long time. This along with YS bringing out the 160DZ and the fact that the 140RX has been out more or less unchanged since.........what, 1997? It makes me think OS is up to something, hopefully good. If the people in charge were really intelligent, they'd create a new engine with a bit more juice than a 160FX, offer it in both rear and side exhaust versions and pumped.

Word has it they're working on a 1.80 or 1.85 4 stroke with some tripped out fuel injection. God only knows how much it'll cost. I'd love it if they'd crank that 140 up to a 160 or so, with RE and a pump. Alas, I'm not holding my breath, we've only been asking for 4 years.
I was about as crazy about the 140RX as one could get, but the unavailability has sort of soured me recently. You can get them, but you have to hunt. That's no fun.

Personally, I'd like to see a YS 1.60 Sport... If only I had access to the YS parts so that I could mix and match? Hmmmm!
I was once asked if a rear exhaust OS 1.80 RE 2-c would have a market in the USA pattern arena. I said "No way!"
Actually I said "Yup! and I know planes that need them".... Never heard much again... I'l just wait patiently... NOT!@

RE: Is OS140RX being replaced?
Hmmm.....I just found it to be suspicious, it's a very common tactic when bringing out a new product for the old product to be "unavailable" until the current supply dries up. That way, the company doesn't have to discount the old engine to get rid of the old stock. Although, you would think some privileged fliers would already have them in their hot little hands doing some testing. I think 160DZs were in some fliers hands for 2 yrs before being released. Maybe it took that long to sell down the 140DZ stock.
