Ah, the penny is dropping.

I have a T in my vent line. One side goes to a YS check valve, the other to a fuel dot. I can open the fuel dot so I can fill through the clunk.

I've started having problems with my idle. I've checked everything EXCEPT the YS check valve.

Thanks for the potential clue?

Any leads on a low pressure check valve?

Steve

Hi Steve,

Could you describe the characteristic of the engine while idling?
(describe the problem)

Interested to hear, how it's behaving.

Regards,
Danny Koolman

Steve,

I use the Fourmost plastic check valve, mentioned above, without any problems so far.

Hey Danny the symtoms of the erratic check valve was that the idle would kill unexplainably and surge alot. Best to test a little with it off. I beleive Ken is right and a fourmost would work better. Eric alluded to the spring and ball type above but never mentioned a brand. Using check valves with a T and a fuel dot make a slick plumbing job but if it's causing a problem or might in the future it has to be reconsidered. Mike

Hello Mike,

Well like I said, till now I don’t have any problem with my idle.
This engine is idling low and constantly ( with-out a surge).

But I know now that this wouldn’t be the case in the near future, and
could start to behave as you mention.
That is why I would like to know where I could get these check-valve.
The low-pressure check-valves. (As mention above)
An web-site?

Thanks in advance for the info.

Regards,
Danny koolman

Hey Danny I'm pretty sure that this is a low pressure check valve:
http://www.fourmost.com/auto_plg.htm
I wish that Eric would confirm this.
I know it's working for you now but I would take the attitude that it has a potential to cause a problem. From the pictures of your flying site in Aruba I wouldn't want too many deadsticks in a heavy wind. Tell Jock that Mike said hi please. Mike Mueller

Hello Mike,

I’ll tell him, but most probably he will be reading this.

I know is quit difficult to have a dead-sticks (a fort ) over here.
That is why I would like to know where I could get one.
I’ll be replace mine for chore.

Thanks a lot to all, didn’t know this problem.
Now it’s time to prevent it form happening.

Those are the ones that I'm using, don't know the pressure rating though.

Mike,
As I said in my note, I don't use them (the check valve in the vent line) any more due to pressure build up in the tank on hot days. The ones that I did use were one-way valves made by MK. I picked mine up from Giant Scale, in their heli section at the WRAM show.

Regards,

Eric.

Eric so that's the reason I had problems with the YS check valve. I can assure you that it does cause problems with the idle. Do you have a link to the low pressure check valves you are refering to? Thanks, Mike

I took out the YS check valve and replaced it with a loop of fuel tubing around the tank. Works great, problem solved!!
