YS 110 muffler

RE: YS 110 muffler
The stock muffler works but I have found it to be a bit restrictive on the power.
All of my "sport" installations of YS motors use the Dave Shadel (Performance Specialities) header elbows and mufflers. The latest Muffler has a steel band around the outside of the threaded part which prevents the mufller expanding and coming loose.
Sound is prettyacceptable, especially on the 110.. Not as quiet as a Hatori header and pipe, but way less money and the header doesn't break all of the time.
Regards,
Eric.
The first two are old pictures and the headers now use steel washers. The third picture is the latest muffler design.

Pepsi Mike,
You win the first prize of of Eagles 2004 superbowl tickets.
It is indeed a KMP Hurricane. The first one is a picture of a Giant Planes Mustang. Just had to find a home for my YS 1.20 AC's.

Eric.

RE: YS 110 muffler
My .91 muffler held up a great deal longer than the stock 1.20 which broke clean off across the header pipe.
After many successful years with the .91 it recently decided to give up and shed the rear end. Don't know why the bolts would come loose after such a long time?
Funny experiences running these engines without a muffler... the .91FZ becames a dog... wasn't happy at all. The 1.20 FZ simply took on a new life! So happy, so much power, instant acceleration.
A complete break through basically. The .91 sounded load. The 1.20 just sounded throaty. I flew it for many months, just using the little stump of header that was left on the engine. Nobody commented about the noise, only the power.
Couldn't understand why there sould be such a difference.
