The pipe can be installed but you need to make your own pipe tunnel, but since the belly pan has plenty of room down there, it is very easy to put one in.

I am using YS 110 with the Hatori short pipe, which the pipe extended into the belly pan by about 1.5 inches, and it took me about 30 minutes to manufacture that short pipe tunnel.

Regards,

Kevin

It would be easily done as mentioned. I'm using the YS 110 with the Performance Specialties YS muffler (I lost the YS one when I hit a buzzard and sheared off the header) and have unlimited vertical so did not install the Hatori pipe, even though I have one.

Hi Gordie.

Tell me more about the Performance Specialties YS muffler.

In the other thread, I said that I had ordered the YS 110 engine for my Excelleron. It was promissed at th LHS by late December.

One more thing.. what about the fuel? I noticed that someone said 30% nitro??? Is that right? I use S&W Hi-Rev 15%.

Thanks again.

When I hit the turkey buzzard and sheared off the original YS muffler on my YS 110, I emailed Dave at Performance Specialties and ordered a replacement. He sent me their new little muffler along with a 45 degree header which is VERY nice since it has flats and jam nuts on both sides of it and you can put a real wrench on it and actually tighten it up. It was not cheap but makes good power and is really secure.
As far as fuel, I fly competitive FAI F3C helicopters so I have Wildcat Youngblood Performance 30% nitro heli fuel just sitting around as that is all I use in my helicopters. The YS110 LOVES the stuff, 30% nitro and 23% oil. It runs very reliably and makes really good horsepower. CoolPower 30% Heli fuel gives nearly the same result.
I am not familiar with your fuel. The only S&W I know anything about is a 38 Special with 6 inch barrel. <g>

Hi Gordie.

S&W is a local product, actually manufactured in Pennsylvania by .... S&W Fuels... alright.. alright...

The one I use and quite a few of the pattern folks use is their 15% nitro with 20% synthetic oil (turbine oil). I don't know about a comparison because I have never used anything other than that. They have a web site... http://www.s-whobby.com/ and can give more detailed information if so desired.

Regarding the muffler, that sounds like a real good move. As I said, I put some bucks down on the YS-110 engine at the LHS who expect it to be delivered late December.

I started with a YS91 in my Explorer(PreExcelleron) and moved up to the 110.
I also started out with 20% Fuel. A Master pilot who flys only YS told me I was gonna need 30% for the motor to be happy. I thanked him and thought "yeah, I'll run this 20% until I have to change. Well come the hot summer months both motors didn't run too well. I tried a tank of a friend 30% heli fuel and haven't looked back.

Sorry for the bad news but you'll probably end up with the 30% fuel to be happy with the Ys110

I have always run the YS on 30% fuel since I fly helicopters already, but the 110 certainly does run good on 30%.

Well, 30% isn't the end of the world. It's only a few bucks more per gallon and I can deal with that.
