rm: I agree and had planned on removing as much material from the fuselage/canopy/cowl as possible.....just haven't gotten around to it yet. The pipe floor in front of the landing gear reinforcement plate will be removed except for a small portion onto which the ESC and receiver/servo battery pack will be mounted. I'm placing as much weight forward as possible to try and prevent a tail heavy condition. Originally, I had planned on using an adjustable stab (with carbon tubes) and mounting two JR elevator servos in the fuselage just in front of and below the stab. If the Symphony turns out to be nose heavy (unlikely....but possible), I can always move the LiPo packs back. However, if a tail heavy condition exists, I'm in trouble as everything in the aircraft is mounted as far forward as possible and the last thing I want to do is add lead to the nose. I will be removing sections from the rudder to pull some weight out of the tail and have decided to give up on mounting elevator servos in the tail. Instead, I'll place them up near the rudder servo shown in the photo and use .070 carbon rods and teflon or nylon tubes to activate the elevator halves. I'm still debating over whether to install the adjustable stab; however, since I'll likely move the elevator servos forward and remove material from the rudder, I should be able to get away with the small increase in weight associated with the stab carbon tubes and the adjusters. I really like the looks of the Symphony and hope I can get its weight under the rule book limit.

E-Symphony Flies!!
Wieght is NOT an issue on this platform IF built correctly.
Mine is 10 pounds 10 ounces flying wieght. I could trim a few ounces from that IF need be.

Wings are 13.3 & 13.7 RTF. Built using 3/4 lb foam & carbon viel.

I must thank Aeroslave for making such a great flying plane that is AMERICAN MADE!
Terry Brox for all the wood work. What a craftsman & friend.
Mike Moritko for making me some of those awesome motor support formers you can see on this thread.
Atlanta Hobby for supporting the Electric crowd as they do with such great products & support.

Truturn 3.25 spinner LBP w/Wide cut. This gives a little more area around prop to flow air to front of motor.
Budd Soft Mount w/aluminum fastners.
(Alum & Ti fastners EVERYWHERE)
Hacker Comp. Motor & ESC
22/11 prop
TP 5300
Tp 1350 Rec. Batt. Maxx Reg.
Futaba G3 Rec.
JR 9411's on ail.
8411 rud
8321 Elev. Pull-Pull set-up
Gator Adjustors- .20 positive on wing. 0 stab
CG 32% MAC =7.82" from LE.@ root.
(2% Rt rud. mix----0 Lt rud.)

This is my second Symphony & the first one flew pretty darn good. This one is much better.
You just cant compare a glow motor to a great electric setup. This made it even better. The Symphony is a great e-power plane!
I LOVE IT!!!!

Hey Cameron, That's a beautiful Symphony. I watched Terry sheet the wings and stab and they were a work of art. It sounds like you're happy with it.

Cameron, your paint job is really great. the fade from yellow to orange is so smoooth. E-planes are always so clean. It should look this good all season. Congratulations.

Thank you for the kind words guys! Lance let Gray know I dedicate all my painted props to his honor! (I know how much he likes them[X(]) Here are some more pixs for your viewing pleasure. As you can see the Symphony affords plenty of room for a E-Power setup.I have about 20 flights on it now & in the WIND! It presents so much better than my glow version. This thing handles the wind better than anything I have ever flown. It is taking me a little while to adjust to the power. Half power 45's & 3/4 power verticals. It has really put another level of fun back into Model Flying for me.

After 9 months, finally got around to finishing mine.

10lbs, 14oz.
C5014xl
CC85HV
TP5300

Coulda come out a couple oz lighter, but screwed up the paint job when the black ran under the tape. So had to sand, reshoot some colors and clear coat, which I didn't want to do.

Put 2 flights on it last week, felt very solid. Finished out the ducting today and its ready to go. Will start flying in earnest this week, as there's no contests for a month up here.

Hey Robert,

Cool looking plane! What kind of spinner is that? I like the painted look. Is it any lighter than a TT?

Thanks,
Emory.

Well after googling at the cores and bare fuse for about a year now I have finally finished my Symphony.
Plan on a test flight this coming weekend then heading to the 10,000 foot runway for its first conest in Lubbock.

NOTE 8-25: test flown 8-13. flew good from first flight. Needed some trim changes but minor. Rudder is VERY effective.
Rolls and stall turns awesome. Snaps were crisp and I was actually burying them some so dialing back some throw on rudder
is needed.

I used some of the methods that Art Wagner used in the fuse crutch area and pipe tunnell area.

Came out 10lbs 5oz. And it was slightly nose heavy using a 18.1x10W APC prop. (I may have c.g. to far back) planning on trying a more forward c.g. basd on Cameron Smith's recommendation. Battery now is about 4 inches behind the wing tube and balances right at back edge of wing tube.

Some of these photo's are in the raw...no decals and few finishing touches need to be added. (see added photo's)
more photo's of inside later.

OS 1.40 Karl Mueller header, Aeroslave pipe
Tru-Turn spinner
18.1x10 APC wide blade
JR servo's 9411 ailerons, 8411 rudder and elevator.
Bolly c.f l.gear
1400 mil NiMh NoBS battery
Mirical switch with regulator

Nose heavy with an OS motor? Is being nose heavy a common theme with Symphonys, or is yours different somehow?

Mine has a fixed stab. I used c.fiber D.E.P.(very light) and build the tail feathers very light. I test flew it yesterday and I am quite pleased with it out of the box. Needed very little but standard trims and couplings. The rudder authority is AWSOME. I ended up dialing out about 25% of the rudder throw. Stall turns are some of the prettiest I have done. I think I will keep it.

Thanks Ed,

Hopefully I will be there this weekend. The coke bottle has become a staple of my inventory. My friend that works for Pepsi is a little disappointed to see this in an otherwise nice airplane.
