"Of course they're far cheaper to poduce thus their popularity with the producers! "

If they are so cheap to produce....why are they so expensive to buy?

It's improving though-----Angel's Shadow--about the first----£2000+---beautifully made,but occasional structural issues....
Impact----less well made,in detail.(no comment on structural issues!)£6-700,
Astral(Extreme comp. version)...well made,but Naruke design, so again £2000+...
Other Far Eastern Composites....eg Otop....£6--800----competently made, but a bit rough in detail, and a bit dated IMO.
Eastern Europe composites eg Rhapsody,Cocaine, Abbra, Leviosa....all very nicely made, and obviously by a modeller with long experience and high standards--all very good value at around £650-750,but needing quite a bit of owner build input(firewall fabrication, fuselage formers ,trays &c.) at the "from the agent" price(but the factory can do it for you,at increased price,I believe).

Re. the wings versus foam-balsa----the composite ones, although not quite as light as good foam-balsas, are near enough IMO ,in that they don't have inertia issues (stopping snaps, spins for example), are certainly strong enough, and being painted is a big maintenance plus vis-a vis keeping filmed wings tidy.
And, with one exception, the moulds they come from make them more likely to be straight and consistent set-to-set than the others.
One thing I dislike personally is the top hinging---centre hinging has less trimming implications,in my experience.
Just one opinion.

...

Hello there David,
Any update on the plane, any more flights on?
Keep us up to date.

...
Now I have about 24 flights or so...

It feels somewhat different from my former plane (the Elexant, from the same maker). Probably because the Elexant was more mid-wing, while this one is rather low-wing...

It is very precise, tracks perfectly in loops and corners - I did not have to tweak anything to achive that. All you need is level wings and pull (push)... Efficient rudder.

Yesterday I played with differentitation. Settled on 13% positive (down throw is less). Aileron gap is sealed from the inside.

Next thing, I want to play with the CG. Now it feels a bit more nose heavy than the Elexant... but it is not unpleasant. Quite steady and locked in feel.

Tomorrow I am leaving for the IFF international F3A competition in Liechtenstein. I do not expect any miracles, because the plane still feels quite fresh (with Elexant I sort of knew what the plane was doing even if I did not see the wings well etc, if u know what I mean ) and the level of the competition is ..well.. [link=http://www.mfgl.li/english/contest/iffappl_liste.php]cutthroat [/link]

All in all, the plane looks promising and I like it more and more.

Default RE: New design from the makers of ABBRA - the Leviosa!

Hello there everyone,

Well yesterday my Leviosa has arrived.
The quality of the kit is really good in my opinion and the kit is very light weight.
I’m really happy with the decision that I’ve made and have chosen this kit.

The design that thy have gotten from the manufacture for them, was design Nr 2 and as I was on the list thy have asked me if I would go with that design or will I wait for my design to arrived. And so I’ve deiced to go with design Nr2 instead of Nr 1. So that I could get my order in sooner.

The box came with a slightly damage, but it was only at the box. The plane it self was intact.

The only problem that I’m currently having is with the instruction manual, due that it is in German and I cannot understand. But I’ll be contacting W.lorenz if it’s possible that he have one in English or (if not) a manual that is “digital†like a word document or a pdf, so that I could translate it via a program.

All in all, I’m very pleased and happy about this kit.
This will be my coming project for the next months or so. (winter project)

Here follow a couple of pics of the unwrapping of the package.
I’ll take some better pics soon.

Regards,
Danny Koolman

Hi Pro Pattern

I also have a such a nice thing. I agree that it should be a great model.
I am a little bit ahead of you. I mean, I also did not
understand the manual in German. I asked Mr. Lorenz for english version but he didn't have it.
My German is poor enough so I asked somebody to help. I saw that probably the
manual (in pdf format) considers to an another model, maybe Cocaine.
If you look pictures you can realize it very soon.
I live 'just' 500 km from the producer (Jaroslav Mach) and I managed to visit him twice
in last two months. According to his recommendations I started building it few weeks ago.
I am a beginner in assembling of a non ARF kit so it improves slowly.
If you are interested in, I share some pictures and data given by Jaroslav.
I should add that mola's pictures and description [link=http://f3a.rc-unionen.dk/Rhapsody_eng.htm]Mortens Rhapsody[/link]
helps me a lot as it is a very similar model.

What kind of engine are you going to fit into your Leviosa ?

Hello happy guys

Awesome pattern. I had a Rhapsody and a Cocaine. Leviosa is so easy to assemble than theses two planes. Wing tubes are already glued in fuse and wings.
So incidence and "triangulation" are already done. Wolfgand is a nice guy and answered me every question.
Important :don't use solvant to clean the differents area of wings, fuse ... I use a car wax (without silicone) to polish them.
Somes pictures (not advices just some ideas of building)

rgreen24,

I think price is shown on Lorenz's [link=http://www.f3alorenz.homepage.t-online.de/home-f3a/body-e-leviosa.htm]Leviosa[/link] page + shipping (price is on light yellow color slot about middle of page). Check out this [link=http://www.f3alorenz.homepage.t-online.de/e-agb1.html#order]Ordering[/link] link also...

For calculation to US$ = Euro*1.2702 (approx.) + shipping

Hi

Jari is right, Lorenz's site is correct. When I asked W.Lorenz for a Leviosa, he gave me an unbearable shipping term, so
I have chosen what he had on stock: upper side white, lower red. It will be painted somehow individually later.
I paid 965 EUR and 75 EUR shipping.
Here are some pictures of my early [link=http://www.peaceful.hu/gallery/Leviosa]Leviosa[/link]

The trouble is that covering of muffler/resor is not removable. I have never met such a solution before. Probably it
works better in the air but now I am suffering. It is not true, I enjoy doing it during long, cold and dark nights.

Hello there Peaceful / everyone,

This will be also my first non ARF pattern plane.
I’m currently flying a Focus II ARC, but a good buddy of my did the covering job for me, so you could say it has become an ARF.

This will be 2nd 2X2 Pattern Plane.
For Power I’ll be going electric and will be using the Plettenberg 30-10 Evo.

I’m very interested in any information that you could give me, any tips, hint, building pic’s any information at all on the assembly is greatly appreciated.

I’m sure that there are more people out there that will find this info. Also very helpful.

I will also follow the instruction on the link that you have send to me very carefully as thy sure o provide so information as well. I’ve also notice that the pic’s in the manual wasn’t from the Leviosa it self, there were some pics of the Rhapsody and some data at the end of the manual saying something in German, but there is the Cocaine name at the end.

Could you also give us the status un your progress?
If you have any pic’s of your plane , could you post some of them?

Any information is really help full and greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Danny Koolman

For the color shame aka design Nr2 was 130 with tax, and no tax 112.06

Hello there everyone,

Well till now I didn’t do much on the plane yet.
I’ll be ordering some more accessories first.
The servos and receiver are on the way.

Well today I did take some more pic of the plane while I’m weighing it.
Also did some opening in the nose of the plane. Opening for the cooling
for the Batteries and Motor. ( Sorry have forgot to take some pic of that )

Hopefully in 2 weeks I’ll really start with the building, when I have pretty
much everything and also the time. Hehe.

Here follows the pic’s.
Enjoy.

I've just finished mine--OS 160/ESpipe/No Spats AUW dry 9lbs 14 oz.
So a bit lighter than I expected---not sure that's a good idea but at least it's preferable to too heavy.
It's a wet and windy Winter here so flying will have to wait a while.

Default RE: New design from the makers of ABBRA - the Leviosa!

Hello there Everyone,

Well I’m getting on the final stages of the build, and I’m a bit confused on where the CG
should be at. If I understand correctly from what the manual is advising, it should be at
190mm from the wing trailing edge ( Nose edge), or am I misunderstanding this.

Can any body point me in the right direction, on what is a good starting point for the CG.

In advance, thanks for the info.

Hi

According to the producer (J. Mach) the right point of CG is 19 mm ahead of leading edge of main tube of wing.
It means 155 mm from the leading edge at the fuselage.
To aid my explanation I attach a picture of that.

I have flown my Levios in. It was just two starts as it is too cold around here.

I dont have to much experience but I found this plane really precise, neutral
and beautiful. It is easy to control, I am very happy with it.
My setup is: Mintor 1.70 with APC 4/14,5*11, Futaba 3152's and 3150's, weight is about 4650 gr.

Here are the pictures I like the best:
