Spotted this old post and have an interest in this model. Went to the website looking for price and could not find. Could you give me an idea of what the Tojeiro 90 runs?

thanks

I think it would be better to drop them a mail at Protech to see about availability. Over here, they were priced at 300€, but I picked it up at 229€. I would guess in the States it would be around 229$

Foxhill36,
Here is the link to I-mex who sell the Tojeiro. They are priced at 299.00 and when you sign up on line as a first time buyer they give 25.00 off. We have a highly modified Tojeiro 90 with wing adjusters and YS 91AC. Move the tank close to CG. and repositioned the servos in the fuse. I also cut a pipe tunnel for a home made pipe for this engine. Took alot of trimming and mixing but we have finally got it were we are competive against some the guys with 2 meter ships.

Good Luck
Larry

Larry, you mentioned installing the wing incidence adjusters earlier. Can you tell how much, if any adjustment you did?

BTW, today I measured lateral balance. I added 13 grams of lead to the left wing, by inserting a lead strip in the wing tip. Let's see if this helps in stall behaviour.

Wagen017,

Good talking to you again. When I installed the adjusters I flew the airplane and trimmed it with the adjusters until I no aileron trim in it at all. The one thing that I did not do is the lateral balance. Once I had the trim correct I used incedence metes and set the wings to 1/4 degree of positive with the stab set a zero. My CG is at 165 mm from the leading edge and with this set up the Tojeiro uses almost no down elevator for inverted flight. The half reverse cuban 8 is simple now, you can set the 45 degree up line and she tracks real nice. Landings are slow with a slite nose high atitude.

Good luck
Larry

hello Larry, I was wondering how your season ended. Today went flying again. Basicly the Tojeiro is promoted now to my "winter" flier, which will mean I will fly it thru the winter season (last year I used the Tojeiro-50 for it, but this I sold). Although the 90 is somewhat heavy, it is a very well build plane, and with the Oracover and foam wings, it is pretty tough. Excellent for training!! Had a blast today!

Wagen017,

Well our season is not quit over yet. We had to retire the Tojeiro and move to a new 2 meter Black Magic. The Tojeiro flys pretty good but it's not what the 2 meter ships provide for you. If you are competing in pattern over in Europe you should also get a 2 meter ship too.

Good Luck

Larry, I completely agree on this with you. I also have a two meter ship and she flies so much better then the Tojeiro!! When flying in the winter usually the field is very wet, or it is actually raining a bit. Then I find it really a shame to use my two meter plane. It would ruin the plane. I must congretulate you on the BM; looks like a magnificent airplane to me! I find it really unfortunate we can't get it in Europe.

Happy flying, all the best. Volkert

Wagen017,

If you would go on to customairframes.com I believe that Mike Hester can send kits to Europe. I'm not sure about the price, but I believe he can get it done. If you are any kind of builder you would be able to build one of these planes. I have another coming together now. We will glass the fuse. and paint. The wings and stab will be covered with Monokote. There is another gentleman here is the U.S. that came up with a good way to make a standard OS 1.60 a good pattern engine. We mounted our engine inverted and we use a special wrap around header from Karl Mueler. We also added an Aeroslave tuned pipe and perry pump to the engine. When my son is flying a routine he never even goes to full throttle. If you are more interested in this setup I would be glad to go in great detail with you. I know using this OS engine is a lot cheaper than the YS 1.60 by far, we burn less fuel and we use only 15% nitro. My son out flys me hands down and he is just 16. Kind of ticks me off if you know what I mean. If you would like to e-mail me direct you can reach me at [email protected].

hello Larry, didn't react earlier. Good to hear you enjoy your BM and great to hear you are flying with your son. That's excellent.

It seems you are referring to the setup of Bob Pasterello. Aren't you seeing problems with the Perry? I think the trick is to make sure you run your engine dry after you stop flying. Otherwise you might end up with a pump that is clogged with oil.

I gave the Tojeiro a rebirth, just finished mounting a Saito FA-125. That makes it 300 grams lighter! It is now at 3.7kgs which is not bad. Only thing is the CG is pretty far back, but I am going to fly it like that anyway. We'll see how it works out.

Today flew the Tojeiro with the Saito 125. This engine is really great! It flew very well.

The Tojeiro-90 has the tendency to snap to the left when you go vertical while flying slow. I hoped it would loose this tendency with the reduced weight (from 4.0 to 3.7kg). This however was not the case.

With the 15x10 prop even with the modified gear I was still mowing the grass! Very little clearance.

Hey Volkert,

I never paid much attention to the weight, but my Tojerio is almost 10lbs or 4.5 kilograms. My YS91 pulls it pretty good but the vertical performance is terrible. I'm not sure why it weighs so much, but each wing panel weighs more than my 2 meter ship. I have a cabonfiber gear from a Showtime 90 that i cut in half and I'm having ground clearance also. I now resulted in just using the plane to test new receivers before I put them in any of my Black Magics. There will be a Black Magic 110 coming out soon and I plan on getting one for my YS 91 and moth ball the old Tojeiro.

Actually I was thinking of getting myself a new 110-size plane as well; the Tojeiro now serves well to get the new Saito run in so it won't shake a new plane to pieces! I guess 2008 will be interesting because it seems a lot of new pattern planes will be coming out in this size; I was looking at a Fliton Inspire-90 since I had such a great time with its predecessor, the Infinity. Will be keeping an eye at the BM110 as well, must be an awesome plane!

Does anyone have a PDF copy of the Tojeiro 90 manual in english? It's no longer available on the web site.

Thanks

you might want to contact Protech.

it seems they still carry this plane and they are pretty good for spare parts.

No response from Protech. My first choice was to replace with the original but I took a shot and ordered the Venus 110 canopy from Tower for $10 and am very pleased with the fit and look. I painted it metallic silver and set in place, so far so good. Not sure if I should trim the back off, I like the lines.
