Default RE: Surpass 90 Build

For the engine, I have decided to use the Dave Brown soft mount as shown in the photo. (MY kit did not come with a mount supplied).
The problem with the DB mount is that the aluminium stand offs are quite high. Which means that the centre line of the crankshaft will be too high and will not line up with the cowl. There were two trains of thought here... either add thick ply to the bottom of the existing engine bearer plate, then drill a hole the same diamter as the aluminium stand off to allow the mount to "sink" in far enough to line up with the cowl.
The other was to cut a few mm off the aluminium. I am going to cut the aluminium. I'll either use a hacksaw or dremel cutting wheel to do most of the work then finish off by hand file...

With a Saito FA 100 on it, you don't have to worry about weight. It will still be very light (3,2 kg?) Let's us know the final weight once you are finished! My Infinity was about 3,5 kgs, but my engine/muffler combo was about 300gr heavier then the FA-100.

Hallo to all rcu community

Here are some photos of mine surpass 90 powered by YS120AC
and full hatori pipe.

The weight of the model auw is 3850g and the flight characteristics
are just exellence, the power of the YS can make that model
to rolling vertical unlimited.

wagen

it has been slow for a couple of reasons.
1) i ordered a MK soft mount from singapore
2) i came across a kit for the Showtime 4D 90!!

The showtime is just so pretty that i couldnt put it away till it was finished... it is ready for test flight but i cannot get my engine running right for some reason.

The new MK mount in the surpass fits perfectly so i should be able to get that mounted soon. I ended up using the carbon pushrod that came with the kit to operate the dual elevators, and i am not happy with the amount of friction in the system. The elevators do not fully centre when i let the elevator stick return to neutral on the transmitter.

Will keep you posted and post more pictures as i complete!
