RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
As much as I know he flew the oxalys from flying star/TS composite between ZN and CA.
It is interesting to know the reason of changing the manufacture.

Were's the WC being held?
Who's the local producer?
Who's the only serious producer that side of the pond, including the USA?
He isn't stupid.

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
BTW does anyone know the reason that CPLR has moved to CA from ZN? No reason why he shouldn't of course, but it does seem strange to have gone from his local company to one half way around the world.

BlaBla,
I don't think CA models is going to win many favors in the US market. I think Chippy and Columbo both managed to screw enough people in the USA.
To give you an idea of their fine quality look at the Genesis Elevator photo that we had to fix. I wish they would have not screwed it up to begin with. Most of the issues could be fixed it was just the fact that CA models assembled it in such a poor way to begin with. How much time does it take to do it right? Only 10% more than it takes to do it wrong. As the boys up in Chicago that purchased like 20 kits from CA models, how many of them will spend the money with the Argentina manufacturer again.
I contacted Columbo and his answer to my email was that things like this bowed elevator happen in shipping and it was not his fault. His advice was contact Chip Hyde. Those of us that had dealings with Chip know the answer we got back. No answer. When I did get an email back I was told that I didn't know what I was doing and that this is the best plane on the market. If I couldn't tell the difference in something good and something from China I didn't deserve the honor of flying such a great designed plane.
I guess the epoxy resin used to mold the Fuze has finally started to cure now a full year later. I just wish it would have cured before the wing and stab were installed the first time.
CPLR is no doubt a great Champion. Perhaps this is the year that Quique or Honda beat him. I wish CPLR the best of luck with his new manufacturer. I give them about 2-3 more years.

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
Chip is CA models distributor in the US so maybe it was only fair that you were sent to him? Did you email them a picture and the response you recieved from chip?

Oh I contacted Chip.
He finally repsonded several months later and many emails later. He told me that I didn't deserve to have such a well designed and built model.
He is a first rate con artist.

What I meant was, did you email the factory back after you talked to chip, giving them his reply? I presume as he a distributor they expected him to handle it.

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
Last I heard Chip is out of RC. He sold his remaining inventory to Chief RC. CA has a new dealer distributor in Miami.
I'm told that Chip will not try to make the US team.
Marcelo can be a little tough to deal with but Chip is a real tool. I don't even think he gets along with his dad Merle.
I hope that someday Chip comes to grips with the fact that he has pissed off a lot of people and trys to make things right.
The Osmose is a real beautiful plane I hope that CA does a better job with it than the Genesis which is a good plane if you get a good one.

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
OK Mugs53, spill the beans and tell us what you know.
Chip out of RC... why?
Not trying for the team... why?
Business gone belly up? Well thats allowed, **** happens but why the Out of RC story.
He's uniquely talented guy, so that news isn't so nice.
Yes he had a special personality, haven't we all.
He had his quirks, so have I... mines annoying Americas, all in good fun of course.
But RC flying without the name Chip Hyde attacted to it is, well just un-thinkable.
Whats the story.

Mups not Mugs Bla Bla. I do enjoy your posts.
OK I don't know the story beyond what a few friends here have heard. I could be wrong but the pieces add up to me. The way I figure it is being a top flyer doesn't justify being a jerk. I mean anyone who thinks their special because they are a flying talent needs to get a reality check. There toys expensive ones but toys just the same.
Sorry to have hijacked the thread, I'll just shut up about the Chippy bashin now.
Sure like the new CLPR plane. I'm glad it's not a Bi-plane. Mike

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
Guys,
I talked to Chip in Phoenix in February. He was going overseas to do some UAV flying. he would be back in time for the NATS, but wasnt sure how much time he'd have to practice. He was still undecided on trying for the team. He sold his business. He is still doing some things with CA though. He's not getting out of R/C, only going overseas for work, and wasnt sure what his schedule would be. I've also had my issues with CA. I had an Eclipse a couple of years and had a problem with the canopy and getting a new one was a nightmare. Long story. I'll never own another CA airplane though. I dont see Chip getting out of R/C, but I think he has burned a few bridges. Personally I've gotten along with him, but certainly know of many who haven't. I've never dealt with him in a business sense though.

I think your supply problem is with the agent in your country, as I never had any problem with CA Models kits. I have about 400 flights on my Genesis and i still i enjoy flying it. The Osmose is going to be brilliant. Mine will arrive in about 2 months from Peter at Cerebus.

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
I have built two Genesis kits (one electric and one glow) from CA Models and have purchased wheel pants from CA separately... I have found Marcello Columbo to be a real pleasure to work with and very responsive..... The kits have been high quality and they are excellent airframes overall. My electric Genesis easily came in at 10 lbs 12 oz with heavy 5000 MAH 20C batteries, so I am four ounces under the limit, and my Glo Genesis is 9 lbs 10 oz with OS140 EFI... in my books both are very light !!! I just installed the OS 200FI in the Genesis and it is 10 lbs 3 oz. I would certainly recommend CA Models as a supplier.
I am not CA Models sponsored.... just a happy customer. !!!! I suspect the OSMOSE will be a great plane as well.
