CPLR new plane OSMOSE

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
Hi Stek
Only one painted coat is not beautifull. My opinion is to get acceptable finish, is to put one coat of nitrocellulosic, one painted coat. Sand fine and put final painted coat.

Hi Stek
To make the brown paper proof, we put nitrocellulosic coating (it's not painting).
We sand the surface fine. And we put one fuelproof coat of paint (car painting). If it is not good we put a second coating.

Ok Claude, I got the point.
So you use fuel-proof painting. I usually use nitro paint + fuel-proof transparent color.
How do you assure the structural strength of the wing with that method? Are there any spars into the wing? I mean in a F3A plane wing, such as the CPLR one.

Hi Stek
Some people use proof paint, others use mat painting and varnish as it is used in car painting.
Strengh of wing is assumed by carbon tube include in the foam.

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
Basic kit is at home since last Friday - just finishing my personal modifications to the full fiberglass fuselage: carbon fiber reinforcements to the L/G area (I fly from a grass field) and canopy hatch (the T canalizer is attached to this piece) I will post some pictures when I get home tonight...

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
Papaone, no decision has been made on the engine yet. I believe plane will not be ready for another couple of months. I am currently flying 2 strokes only (OS 140RX with 70B carb and Webra 160 in my Genesis twins...) but I feel the OS is a little on the weak side for this monster, and the Webra is too finicky, I guess I will have to wait for the new YS170 to hit the market. Not ready to jump to electric power yet...

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
So he changed prop?
On the Oxalys he was used to use an APC 17x12, at least this is what I've seen in the 2006 EC.
Do you know the motivations for that change? Can you explain in greater detail which work is done on the blades (what is the target) ?
Very interesting, thanks...

Derek,
What has happened to your website? It hasn't been updated in a long time, did you lose interest in it or not enough time? I really enjoyed going there back when it was active.

Hi Ryan,
Happy that you enjoyed my site, while I was still updating it....
Yeah, I kinda lost interest in keeping it updated, esp when I started working.
However, once I decide on my new pattern plane, I may just start updating it once again, as I should have more free time towards the year end.

Hi Piotr
Benoit told a friend that Osmose needs a lot of power as YS170 DZ.
Although this powerfull engine, when there is strong wind, it's limit for somes figures in program. Note the difference between Oxalys and Osmose on pictures.

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
I confirm what Claude said. YS 170 is necessary (as BPLR said us) in high wind conditions as at the french championship last week. This is due to the bigger fuse than the oxalys.
This would be a problem for an electric engine which must be very powerfull and also light to keep weight under 5kg ...

RE: CPLR new plane OSMOSE
Hi
I flew Twister with a 140 rx with a 18x10 APC ..4,7 kg ....this was no problem .
so i think it should be ok with 140 rx or 160 DZ .
But I plan to let mine (when it comes) get a 170 DZ

Hi Rune
I think OS140RX is well for Osmose in any program and wheather. It's a very powerfull engine.
I'm not in the same category of Benoit or Christophe PLR and for my skill and national program I think 160DZ go well for Osmose. Sure 170 DZ is better. Its a good news you 'll get this engine.
