What "Proper" modern F3A 110 size model ?
Okay folks
For some time now I have been looking around for an F3A design in a 1.6-1.7M span size for like of YS 110.
An to date Im afraid I have not found anything.
I am not looking for a combo 3D job - but a proper F3a design based on the full spec versions at 2M.
Imagine if you will a reduced scale Oxalys for a 110. Deep fuse, smaller tail control surfaces etc etc. Forward canopy.
Closest Ive seen;
Synergy 903D : Dont want a 3D plane but I know this does pattern well and its light - but Im not that keen on it and its a little old now.
Epsillon, Matrix, Evolution, Excelleron, all look like dated designed to me...?!
If Kyosho produced a 110 size Oxalys as well as they produced the 50 - I'd buy two right now !
Get what Im after !? or am I chasing a pipe dream ?
Any thoughts ? (Gotta be ARF)

Problem with the Venus II for our friends across the pond is price, what with the added Customs and VAT and so forth... too bad because this is perhaps the best bang for the buck -- if not the pound -- that can be had anywhere. This airplane fits the bill to a "tee" and has absolutely no bad habits.
I don't know about European distribution, but also check out the Fliton Inspire 90 which is a very good looking airplane, with control surfaces scaled back to pattern proportions.
Don M., I'm luvvin' the VII!! Landings are pretty much a breeze now. I didn't realize at first just how incredibly slow the stall speed is, and how dead-flat it stalls. Knife edge has the least coupling of any airplane I've ever seen. I have only a very small rudder mix for full-power uplines, and a tiny bit of down elevator mix for low-throttle downlines.

Hirobo makes the Astral XX of Naruke in a 110 size. They call it the Astral XX 120 but I think it is only available in Japan, Singapoe (Singa Hobbies) and Hong Kong ( Waigo). I have the older Astral X and it is the best 110 size pattern plane I have flown. Good luck hunting for one.

who make a 110 sized model called the Addiction, which is a smaller version of the 160 size model. There is a thread on RCU about the build of the 160 sized model.

Many of these are sport aerobatic which is not enough pedigree for what I am looking for.
Many are also dated in their design IMO - I am looking for something with more fuz lare at the front, and less wing.
The Astral 120 comes closest but the price tag is too high. $1200 !
I do like the V II but it is not really a true F3a design and I will be able to tell the difference...
Some great suggestions though - didnt even realise some of them existed.!!

Duplex looks quite nice - but again I would like a more forward canopy
BUT - where do you buy it from ?
AND - has anyone hadone ?

I have the Hirobo Stream 50 and I can vouch that if the Astral is anything like the quality and the flying perfomance it is worth the $1200.
However if you are looking to get into a YS 110 sized plane I can recommend the Probuild Infinity. Wont break the bank and has a proven track record. I am putting one together now.

For a 110 sized kit, the CA Models Widebody 60 is still gets my vote as a fine pattern machine.
Mine was [&o] 7 lbs 8 oz on a YS110 and it was an outstanding performer.

Leo F3A 110 from giantscaleplanes. I had one last year with an OS 120AX to start competing in pattern. It was a pretty decent build although the hardware was second rate. I am not a 'seasoned' pattern pilot I just appreciate the discipline but I went to one event and the Leo got lots of attention for looks and price. An FAI pilot sent it through its paces (very exciting for me) and said he couldnt believe something under $500 flew so well. I think the planes from giantscaleplanes are sold under different 'alias' or brands, you should be able to find them in other places as well.

Thanks all, but many of the designs suggested are not "up to date" with the demands of todays schedules IMO. or they look horrible ! or, in the case of the AstralX120 which looks lovely - too darn expensive.
I am actually considering the purchase of a Synergy 913D, which I shall replace the tail feathers on to resemble more of an Oxalys layout, and then change the colouor scheme just for looks.
What do you reckon !?

Capiche, i dont know if its too late, but my buddies and i are waitin on the fliton inspire 90 to come out here soon. i just got done telling someone else that we saw it at toledo and it is simply a beautiful airplane for the price tag. i have the infinity 90 for 2 years and it is such a great flyer. hope this helps, goodluk

The Inspire-90 will probably be even better then the Infinity-90, and that was (yes, mine is past tense as well) a really great flying airplane! I'd go for the Inspire-90 as well, if I were now looking for a 90-size plane!

Is it me or is it a little ugly on top with that teeny canopy?
This looks a bit like an electric plane made IC compatible - is it really gonna cope with a YS 110 in it ?

I just remembered that Protech has a Tojiero 90. It is designed by Belgian F3A Champions. A 14 year old won the Portugese F3A championship last year with it. I am going to start competition with Tojiero 140 in a few weeks. The Plane flies great.
