RE: best propeller for YS 170DZ
Hi, yepe
Here is one information for YS170DZ propeller and the rpm. http://www.vit.or.jp/%7Etomo/gami/so.../souzya84.html
According to it, they convert APC 18.1 x 10 to 17.6 x 11.7 and its rpm is about 7700 at that time.

On the APC Web Site the weight of their 17x12 propeller is listed as 0.0723 pounds (32.8 grams). The weight of their 18.1x11 is listed as 0.29 pounds (131.5 grams).
Is there really that much difference in the weight of the 2 propellers?

Hi Bob,
I've just weighed my APC 17X12 and the scales say 121 grams/4 1/4 ounces, so just slightly less than the 18.1X10.
Best Wishes,
Alan.

Alan,
Many thanks for definitive data. Much appreciated.
Have you tried an 18.1x11 and if so did you source it directly from APC or did you find a UK supplier who has them in stock?
Kind regards
Bob

Psookdee,
I got my oxai aries from Mr. Alex Lau of HongKong. Try emailing him with this address [email protected]. I heard from a friend that Extreme Composities is manufacturing Altair and it would be release this May. Altair is the same design as aries the only difference is stab.

Guys,
Tried the modified APC propeller of Naruke, the prop is very nice far different from 18.1x10 and 17x13. The speed is linear and constant, even you advance to full power the plane speeds up slowly.

The propeller depends a lot on your flying style, is not just RPM, we use 17x13 on the 160 and 170, depends on your field elevation and wind, I sugest you get the 17x13 and 18.1x 10 and try them, it also depends a lot on the airplane, after you try them adjust the throttle curve so power is linear, this way you can which one is best, throwing a different prop in the engine is not enogh.
Try this way and you will be happy with the results, your airplane will fly a little different from on prop to another. If you are flying F3A then keep in mind not to exceed 7800RPM.
Regards

yes we have...its very noisy.
too much diameter. The 18.1's are a little too much diameter too. At least for my taste I have been clipping them and working on them now for about 2 years.
The 18.5-9.5 is also very heavy, and takes a special cut spinner. It weighs a signifigant more than the 18.1-11 or 12 props.

Just correcting Yepe's post. The Naruke prop is an APC 18.1x10 modified to 17.6x11.8. Work just great.

Depends on your flying style, but I really love the 19x11. I flew an Oxai Aries last year and this was my prop of choice. If you can get a hold of one give it a try.
