In which model are you using the engine? Anything more than about 7.5 lbs AUW and the vertical starts to suffer badly with a 2-stroke of this size.

RE: ST 90-APC 14 x 8 someone?
My 8.2 pound (dry) Model Tech Joss Stik w/ mid wing mod, flew straight up and outa sight with a cowled/inverted ST S90K/Magic Muffler using one of the older (not blunt edged) Zinger 14~8s. Ran it on 0% to 5% fuel. I wanted to make the plane fly at a constant speed and it flew at around 80mph in all (level, up, down) directions.
Have all the parts to build another one some day.

RE: ST 90-APC 14 x 8 someone?
xcead,
The Magic Muffler is more like an earlier version of a Nelson or Jett muffler. It has less volume though like a Weston. Still gives a boost. IIRC my S90K was turning 9000+ even with an air filter.
Have a good flight on the new plane.

I have an epsilon with an ST90 and prefer a 14X6 prop MA or APC.
I have flown with a 13X6 as well and liked it, its a bit faster.
This combo has good power for pattern.

yes, i've tried 13x6 for break in
then 13x8..but it was a bit fast, and at low RPM, the prop doesnt tracks well
also tried 13x10 of a friend, but was tooo much
I hope, 14x8 could be the one, tracking at low RPM, and smaller enough for the engine to handle

I think it will be a little big and the transition will suffer a bit, but theres no harm in trying.
The 14X6 is good middle ground for torque and speed.

I flew tested the prop yesterday
the plane flew slower...i love it!
vertical dive was very slow!!! perfect!
vertical pull....was a bit better than the 13x8, but didnt reach too many RPM as expected, not unlimitted...but enough for the sequence im flying
and for gringo flyer, yes the transition was "heavy", but few more flights will tell the truth

An MA prop on a pattern ship? Ooh , would be a bit loud wouldn't it?

The pattern contest he would be flying with the Epsilon here in Argentina I dont think will have a noise limit. Our local contest wont.
