RE: Omaha Pattern Championship
Here are some pictures from day 1. The turnout is pretty good, and it was great to see the guys again. I even improved my flying quite a bit just from a few of Rusty's and Robert's tips. This is better than Christmas!! [8D]
I wish everybody luck with their flying tomorrow, except that guy that is scoring ahead of me (you know who you are)

RE: Omaha Pattern Championship
What a great bunch of flyers.
Everyone willing to help anyone with, flying suggestions, repairs, set up suggestions.
This was my first R/C flying competiton, EVER. I've only been flying for 3 years.
This was an experience I will cherish for a long, long time.
Claude and Nathan, both, sort of took me under their wing, (so to speak), and did a fantastic job introducing me to pattern flying.
Even while they were both busy with there own, responsibilities, they were right there, to offer help and encouragement.
Thanks, very much, fellas. I am hooked. And, I fully intend to work at improvong my flying abilities. After all, I seem to read, and am told a lot, pattern flying will make you a better pilot.
I think this weekend has done a good job of pointing me down the right path.
Personnel thoughts aside...
As President of the Omahawks, I wanted to take just a sec, to say thank you to everyone that attended.
It was great meeting some new folks, and, returning Omahawks members, (Rusty Dose). Looking forward to seeing everyone, again, next year.
And, of course, thanks to all the club members that helped behind the scenes.

RE: Omaha Pattern Championship
Having a long trip back to MSP I left before the festivities were over. I did say thanks and goodby's to Claude and others, but really meant to say a word of thanks to each of the volunteer helpers. I was impressed from the beginning with their involvement and enthusiasm (and humor) ** running score sheets, punching in the numbers, cooking, setting up ** everything! I hope the Omahawks that graze in this section of RCU will please pass my compliments on to all of them! It was a great contest and they were a large contributor to its success!
Thanks and hope it will happen again next year. I had fun!

Sorry I missed it....long drive now from D2. I did wave to you guys Sat and Sun from 39,000 and 38,000 feet respectively as I went by. I was going to rock the wings too but that probably would have been a bad idea anyways.

RE: Omaha Pattern Championship
Omaha Pattern Championships,
This event is very special to me as a long time former Omahawk member and the fact that this event was my first Pattern contest in 1978. I flew my Dirty Birdy .40 in Sportsman, a class updated and refined by Wisconsin's Mike Dorna called Club Class, to a first place finish (at least that is what the notes on the back of a photo found last night featuring the Dirty Birdy .40 and Kougar in my driveway.)
The 1978 (I was 14) event is particularly memorable because I "cleared the flight line and judges chairs" after my 90 degree turn towards the pits on my first flight due to EXTREME nervousness!
Thank you to Claude and all of the tireless Omahawks for another fine event.

RE: Omaha Pattern Championship
The Omahawks club photographer kicked me off of the computer for quite a while last night to post more photos from the pattern contest. You might keep checking back to the pattern gallery as more and more photos get uploaded:

For those folks who wanted to be there but had scheduling conflicts, send Claude a PM and he'll hook you up with an attractive and comfortable t-shirt for a very modest price!
