Haikong Mfg. - SICKLE Composite F3A
Just came across this today.
I know nothing about it, other than I have had a couple of Haikong Mfg Models in the past and they are extremely well constructed and finished . . and they fly really well too. The F3A ship does look interesting though.
Has anyone seen or heard anything about it ?
Haikong is one of those classic "name behind the names" manufacturer, making planes for a lot of WELL KNOWN plane 'marketing' companies.
More info on this site . . http://www.dghaikong.com/
PS. you will probably recognise a couple of the models shown on their site. I know there is more that aren't shown too.
Cheers, JB

Looks really nice but, if you look at the specs page take a look at the length. It shows it as 80 inches! Not good for F3A. Hopefully a mix up and it is really the correct size.

It also says the length is 1980mm (2 Meter is 2000mm). 1980mm converts to just under 78 inches . .

So far HaiKong planes are nice, even the little Hot Point flew almost as well as my Fliton Prodigy but its 55% of the Fliton's price. If the numbers in metric it correct then the dimensions are very much similar to other pattern planes. I wonder how good this plane is manufactured ...

Not sure about the composite stuff though . .

Well, based on the pics they haven't made any of the changes I told them about...
Very well built by the way - really made for an outrunner up front but Woodie did some magic and got my C50 in there and mounted.

From the brief 8 minute total flights (total of 4 takeoff's, 3 controlled landings and 1 totally uncontrolled landing/impact - [sm=angry_smile.gif] ) I'd say the plane had potential... it was a little on the heavy side but I'm hoping that they've changed some things about the plane to make it a little lighter. The fuse is very well made but could stand to be a little lighter...

I got an email from HaiKong ... I suspect the retail price will be between USD1,300 to perhaps (estimate only guys) USD1,600.
Please note this is not the price that is stated by the manufacturer nor any importer for the US but rather my estimate based on the communication with the manufacturer.

I have contacted the manufacturer. They gave me a quote of $800US for the plane and the shipping quote to Chicago area is $420US for 1 plane. Added up that's $1220. I'm mulling it around at this point. Mike

It has landed here in Australia (boy things happen fast )

At about US$1200 that's not bad in here in Oz . . My experience is that they are usually available for less in the USA . . maybe about a $grand ???? . . we'll see.
Anyway . . stuff like this is looking good for Pattern.

No . . haven't had a feel yet . . .
I hope to get to Model Flight in the next week or so for a look.
Particularly interested in the airframe weight . . it's critical to start with a "good" weight for EP, otherwise it's very difficult to come in under 5kgs . . requiring careful build up and selection of components (all something I am not great at [])
Cheers, JB
