FUTABA BLS451 servos on rudder anyone?
Hello all!
has anyone used this servo on rudder, I'm looking for a replace for my FUT 9155, the 451 has less torque, but will it be enough?
thanks

I think the BLS-351 will be better suited for the rudder. It is considerably more torque. I will be flying the BLS-451's on the ailerons and a BLS-351 on the rudder next year. When I get home from the Sand box next week I'll be trying the setup out. i'm looking forward to flying the Brushless stuff...

I used the BLS-451 on the rudder last year. It was a great servo but tended to wear out rather quick. I think I'll be using the 9156 on the rudder next year, can never have too much torque

Try the 9156, you will see a difference on the hard rudder with throttle inputs.
Get back to the books Brett. You coming to Dallas?

Bill,
Not on the agenda right now... I'll be up late that Friday. But you never know, I've really been itching to fly more and more every day. Haven't really flown since the nats.. :\

I have been using the BLS451 on the rudder of my e-power Integralenough torque for that purpose, given the small rudder. Now using 451's on the rudder and ailerons of my Krill Model Spark (electric); a bigger rudder (but has a counter balance), and no lack of torque issues detected. What I like about the 451 is the speed (6V). Obviously, with e-power I am not seeing any wear. All that being said, one can never have too much torque on a rudder servo.

Hi Andre,
The 451 is a great servo, I am installing some in the wings for the ailerons right now. I just liked the brute power of the 9156 and really think I felt a difference when I went from the 451 to the 9156 on the rudder.
OK, are you going to Dallas?

I've used a range of rudder servos (with several comparisons in the same airplane) @ 6v. The JR4721 (140 oz in) seemed pretty good until the JR8411 (188) which was a marked improvement. The JR8611 (320) offered no obvious benefit over the 8411 and had a tendency to oscillate with the 14Mz. Switched to the Futaba 9155 (192) and find it works very well, recently switched to a BLS351 (217) expecting similar performance - but have found it to be smoother. (Some have reported oscillation with the latter, but I've had no problems). So - my experience suggests something aroung 200 oz in is an adequate range, at least for the Partner, but I agree that there's no harm in too much.
Bill - Andre & I will be at N Dallas (assuming Ike doesn't interfer).
