Default YS63S

Hi ....can anyone help ?

My brand new YS63S has been running smooth as silk ... for 6 flights but now it starts and it wont keep going.

I have tried all the usuall staff but no good .I suspect the regulator may be faulty as a lot of fuel drips from the carby after

engine stops. Has enyone else experience this with brand new YS63S ?

It could be dirt that is keeping the plunger inside the regulator forced open. You will need to take apart the regulator and clean it well. You also could try to run it several times. Sometimes the plunger will get clean by fuel passing. I am sure that others with a lot of experience in this engine will give you more detailed advice.

Good luck and Happy New Year,

Vince

I checked one form a fellow modeler that had the same problem, it was a bad o ring on the valve pushrod tube, these engines need to have absolutly no leaks, you can run it and look for leaks (be very carefull!!!), the whole engine is pressurized so any leak will cause problems.

If in doubt, change the o rings with new, and after that adjust the regulator only if necessary.

hi,
at a guess i would say the engine ticks over fine,??picks up then fades out and wont hold a constant top end???.........if this is so i would look at your valve seats, lap them back in new gasket set and i would say problem solved.
i have done this to all 63`s for friends and customers...

regards
steve...

Hi Steve,

I am not sure your sugestion will fix the problem .....I think the regulator is at fault

The engine starts ok but cuts out and fuel gushes out the carby after it stops.

Other suggestions. Make sure that simple stuff is OK. For example new OS F glow plug. I also assume that you adjusted the low end mixture. Are you sure that is not too rich? Are you sure that fuel is good quality? Again, just make sure that simple stuff is OK.

Good luck,

Vince

Good to know that is working for you. The question is which one was causing the problem.

Thanks for reporting back,

Vince

The Glow plug does not cause that fault, he previously cleaned the regulator, I will say it was the o rings, is a typical problem, when it runs but is erratic on transition or the fuel mixture is changed with no results, then is problem of internal pressure on the engine.

Glad it's working.

Regards to all.

Hola,

Yes, you are correct. There is very good chance that the problem was caused by the o-rings.
