RE: Ocala Contest - Anyone going?
Here are some pics from the contest. Chad brought down some shirts to sell (of course he hasn't told anyone at the contest he has them) and they are nice. Chris and the Ocala crew are doing a great job keeping things moving and everyone flying. It was windy yesterday, but the sun was out and the wind only caused one problem which was a set of landing gear that need replacement now. The two hot classes are Intermediate and Masters as 1st and 2nd are battling it out for the top spot and everyone is having a good time. Gerry Dale is flying a ZDZ-40 RE powered Osmose, which is working really well. It's certainly interesting to watch his flight and here a big gasser noise (not loud) in pattern. Seems to handle the wind with ease, plenty of power and not loud. It didn't look like it was shaking much either. I will try and get some more pics today if I can.

RE: Ocala Contest - Anyone going?
I think this was a great contest. The wind was blowing but it was steady and not to hard to fly in. I want to thank the Ocala club for hosting this contest and they always do a great job. Chris and I had a great time and the competition was good. I always look foward to go to this contest every year. I hope to see everyone at the Lakeland contest next month.

Here's some pics from today. A little less wind... maybe 1mph less... and more down the runway. 2 rounds were finished by about noon and most were on the road by 1. Next up... Lakeland (well for a pattern contest at least).

Hey Jason great job on the pics....
What a great time, want to thank everybody and the Ocala Club for another fine meet. A great field and facility, I camped out the entire weekend under the oaks and spanish moss. It is a beautiful location.
It was great flying my new plane in it's first meet, thanks everybody for all the nice comments. Seems like all the new planes did well in the strong cross wind blowing +20 mph....
It looks like Austin and I have our work cut out in D3 - man it was neck and neck all weekend - Lots of great flying for so early in the season. Congrats to all the winners. Let's go practice Austin !!
I also want to thank Uncle Larry and Mike Wingo for feeding me beer, steak, jumbolaya, bratwurst, BQ Pork, and eggs and bacon for breakfast... - yes I will fly and paint for food or fuel - yea we eat GOOD !!!!!!!
What a blast, we had a lot of great laughs too!!!!!

RE: Ocala Contest - Anyone going?
That was fun [8D]
Thanks go out to the Ocala guys that made the event happen. We really appreciate the hospitality!
Fun stuff....totally BS-free weekend, lots of GOOD competition, challenging conditions, friendship and fun in the sun (err wind...)....
Nice spread of new planes and a lot of different power sources. YS, electric, even gas. All handled the wind really good for the most part.
Gotta give an atta boy to my buddy Steve, that was really fun! We split all 6 rounds and so it came down to the last one. Steve and I have had a lot of good competition through the years starting back in sportsman, sometimes I squeak one, sometimes he does...this weekend I lucked out.... I can't think of a better way to start out 2009 than super close competition like that. I better burn some fuel for Lakeland though....LOL
It was great to meet Ivan too. What a fantastic guy! Bill hit the nail on the head, what a class act.
Anyway just a thanks, a few attaboys and especially thanks to Gandalf and Wingo for the munchies. Hanging out with old friends and meeting some new ones and trying to make a 10 lb airplane look graceful in gale force winds....does it get any better?
Cyaz in Lakeland next month!

RE: Ocala Contest - Anyone going?
I always fly well at Ocala. I just wished a couple of others from my clique were there to witness it. Nevertheless, my hat is off to Mr. Hester for this past weekend's performance. Good show. My thanks to Ernie & Chris for having this year's event. Looking forward to Lakeland.

Hi Jason.
Would you mine publish again this post, I can't load the final results and pics.
Please let me know if are there any videos of P09 and F09 schedules in this contest.
Nice flying camp and very good pilots, maybe the next year I would like to assist...
Best regards!

Hey Victor,
That's what makes this pattern fun and I hope you get to come to my contest in late April. I hope that engine keeps running good for you.
