I hope to have that answer by the end of the day. I'm sure they will be faster and more torque than the 9650..not sure how much more though. They are a drop in replacement for the 9650. I'll post as soon as I find out anything.

The BLS 153 Servo is the successor to the S 9650 Servos, but in the brushless version. With identical dimensions, the torque, keeping the same speed has risen by 35%. The BLS 153 has its mounts designed for vertical installation in the model.
It is designed as a swashplate servo in helicopters up to 1,etre rotor diameter. Or as a wing servo in large model aircraft.

The advantages of Brushless-Motor technology:

# 30% faster Reaction time = better acceleration
# more resistant to shock and vibration
# higher efficiency, lower heat generation
# no brush wear = 5 times motor life
# Special-Gearbox = no backlash
# Samarium-Cobalt magnets
# higher resolution
# same current drain as normal digital servos

# Specifications:

Dimensions: 35,5 x 15 x 28,6 mm
Mass/weight: 30.00 pond/g
Operating voltage: 4,8-6 Volts

Torque: 48.00 Ncm Torque: 61.00 Ncm
Transit speed: 0.11 Sec/45° Transit speed: 0.09 Sec/45°
Holding power: 120.00 Ncm Holding power: 152.00 Ncm

61Ncm=86ozin
48Ncm=68ozin
120Ncm = 169ozin
152Ncm = 215ozin

Thanks for the specs,

is there any test report on those servos ? Very interesting characteristics...

What about using them on the ailerons ?

I was looking on Futaba's site www.futaba-rc.com and noticed those initial specs were a little high. I remembered when I asked a few months ago that the specs weren't quite that impressive. These are the official ones from Futaba.

4.8V 76 oz-in. 0.15 sec/60°
6.0V No information.

Little up for this thread.

It seems that the BLS 153 and BLS 651 are very similar but no many informations about it.

Does anybody have any clarification on the BLS 153 on whether it can use 6v? I bought a couple from Tower and should have them next week, Tower's specs show 6v but I discovered later that Futaba site does NOT show this... anybody with some that can clear this up?

ALL Futaba servos will work fine on 6V. Even the ones that specify 4.8 only will work fine on 6V. Only a servo going through a gyro will not work on 6V. I have run many of the 4.8V only servos on 6V and they all work great. The 4.8V only spec was something they came up with in Japan, but I have never had a problem with any of them, including the new brushless servos.

Good to know Arch, thanks. I had some issues with a few servos a ways back using them against Futabas "intended" use so I have become a bit wary. Have you used the uber-high speed tail rotor servos at 6V on elevator?

I'm running it now regulated at 6.5V. My setup is currently the BLS352 on rudder, BLS254 on elevator on a DEPS setup, and BLS154s on the ailerons.

I previously was running the S9254 on the elevator at the same voltage.

Is it ok to use these servos on unregulated LiFe pack?
Thanks
