Please Preregister for Sulphur, LA Contest
Hello D6!
I hope all the usual suspects and a bunch of new folks will make to the Gulf Coast Pattern Championships to be held Oct 3,4 at Larks Field south of Sulphur, LA. If you are planning to make it, please drop me a pm here or email me at glmiller3 at suddenlink.net with your vital statistics so I can have as many folks as possible pre-entered in the scoring program.
If you need any information about the site, hotels or local entertainment (such as restaurants, casinos, etc) drop me a note or call me : 337 540-0375.
The flying field is open all next week and I'll be there Friday to welcome any early arrivals for practice.
The club web page has directions and maps at : www.larksrc.org
Its a little early to predict the weather yet, but hopefully this front will move on through leaving us a pleasant temperature and no rain. Hold a happy thought!
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
George

Thanks Bryan, Randy, James, Mark and Earl!
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!
Common Arch! just a 22 hour drive and it's gonna keep you away? Seriously, I hope your new job is working out well and we'll miss you.

Mark,
We don't have a lake at our field unless it rains really hard. There are lots of lakes in the area if you're interested in boating, but we can't have a boat race at the field.

Great Brandon!
I hope everyone is OK with flying P11 for FAI all rounds.
That is the plan as suggested by Earl Haury.

George, I hope to be able to make it, not sure at this point though, haven't been able to fly much lately. Ch 28, Advanced. Brian Clemmons said he will be there, 2.4, Advanced.

Thanks Matt and Brian!
Hi Glen,
So far the count is:
Sportsman 4
Intermediate 0
Advanced 6
Masters 2
FAI 4
I haven't heard from several folks that I think are likely to make it.

Matthew, either way is OK...whatever you are comfortable with. I think Eddie Batchelor and Mike Pascale will be flying intermediate from the club here so there will be some competition for the wood. Sure you don't want to move up to Masters?

BTW the weather forecast is looking pretty good- temps 70 to 80 degrees with low chance of afternoon showers.

Had a good time in spite of the shortened contest due to the weather. Next year you may want to get that order in with the weatherman a little earlier! Attached is the only photo I've got from there due to my camera being dead. 5 Dixie R/C members attended, and we took home 5 trophies! In this picture from the top (L-R): Jim Thompson 3rd in Masters, Bryan Hebert 1st in FAI, Matthew Frederick 1st in Advanced, Brian Clemmons 2nd in Advanced, Randy Hicks 1st in Sportsman (not a Dixie member, but we've adopted him ), Brandon Landry 3rd in FAI. Not a bad showing for us!

Matt,
I think our good luck came from my "Irish team hat" Given to me by Shane Robinson in Portugal this year.
had a great time Guys.
I don`t usually fly,Much, after the Nats But I`m going to make this one again.
Matt you gotta stop Lying about not practicing too,
I had a good time with the P09 pattern in a 15 mile an hour cross wind as well,
can`t wait till next season with the Valiant!!

I was wondering about that hat... I was beginning to think you were a Celtics fan. You know me, I like to lie about not practicing to make my competition let their guard down!

Guys
Thanks fo the good coments, we ( myself, George & the clubmembers) all had a blast hosting the event. I'm speaking up for George because I know he's at work.
BTW Bryan when I was judging you the score sheets said P-11 NOT P-09. No wonder I was confused Thanks for coming and do please come back. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit during the rain.
Matt - we'll try to order in the weather better next year.
