There were lots of leftover parts in my bag. Meant to be used as alignment pins somewhere. I think I was told that they were a holdover from the Impact kit. Same basic bag of accessories included with all the pattern kits. I think I did use the tube portion when I added adjustable incidence to the wing.

Update on weights: my Valiant is now completely finished except for propellor, motor, controller and battery tray. The weight is now 2.888 grams.
With my Pletty Evo30-10 (585gr), spin opto 99(105gr), RASA prop (72gr) and 2x5S Rhino 4900 (1272gr) that would leave me with 78grams to mounting all this. Looking good!
Sofar I have built the Valiant completely stock with the parts supplied. I left out all the reinforcements and "dampening" needed for YS vibrations. I can post some pictures + equipment list if there is interest.

Futaba 9351 for rudder + SWG extention for extra throw
Futaba BLS153 2x for elevators
850mAh battery
Emcotech Single bat switch. I always remove the charge wire and 2nd receiver feed wire (saves 6 grams)

Thanks for the pictures. The a/c looks really good. I'm in the building face right now. Will use a YS170 and JR radio.

today put my Valiant together to check alignments and work on the throws. This is a great plane and I love how it looks!!!! Also the build quality is great. For those of you that like the Jason Schulman scheme, they are still available even if it is not mentioned on the website so get one while you can!!
If I take the cockpit railing as my zero the plane actually came out quite flat. A little incidence on the wing (0.2 degrees) and no incidence (0) on the elevator halves.
I wonder about the incidence measurements, anybody did measure them?
Another question on the throws. In the manual the throws are mentioned for the snaps (23 degrees aileron, elevator 14 up, 18 degrees down, rudder 20 degrees). I wonder what the normal throws are.

Beveled shape of the trailing edge of the wing causes misalignment of the back leg of the measurement device So temporarily fill it with a piece of balsa and fix it with a two side tape. Then you will measure correct incidence.
Stabs are 0 deg.
For stall turn you need a high deflection of rudder.
My rudder touches to elevators on both side.

My rudder comes about parallel on the elevator halves, but I cannot get it further. What do you need to sand away to get it like that? I tried around the junction, but it did not make a difference.

Do you FOrce the two pins (bolts) throught the wire?? Which moves the wire out of the way to allow the rounded bolts out/in ??
Or do you make a slot on the outside of the fuse so it slides??
Do you then pull the wire on both sides and then pull the chin out???
Could you show some pictures of a finished example..???

Yes I was looking at the weights some of you guys posted and it does seem heavy. I am going to order a 30mm PBG tube which should save me around 50g.
Does anyone else know the diameter of the tail tube as I am going to purchase a PBG tail tube as well.

they made it for me 68cm long dia 3cm and a weight at 64g

I also replaced the wing tube with an aftermarket version. I had to add some clear packing tape to make it fit better as you are right the original is not perfectly round. Half of the weight difference was lost due to this. I realized I can not measure the stab tube as I have the stab glued in to minimize any slop.

Tom, maybe you can measure the stab tube on your Valiant and let us all know!
I read somewhere a discussion regarding stiffness of wingtube and its effect on plane alignment during flight. There must be a reason for this massive wingtube. I was surprised the first time I saw it.
