USA TEAM AT THE WORLDS SITE

Hi All,

Am putting up a site for The Worlds to help support our TEAM USA, and hopefully to give the flying community a few more pictures to see. I did this in Portugal for The Worlds, and seems a lot of folks looked on, so here we go again. Check back often. I won't get to Muncie until Saturday, but will try to post a few photos of my trip from Texas to Indiana and show our friends around the globe a little bit of America on the road. All comments welcome on the site, and please let me know if there is a certain plane, person, or anything else you would like to see a picture of and I will do my best to get one for you.

Good luck to everybody and hope you all will truly enjoy your stay in the United States.

Great. I really apreciate your effort. I followed your blog for WC in portugal and hope to do the same thing for this WC.

Thank you very much and best wishes for Brett and the rest of the team.

Cindy,

Thanks for doing this for us!!! It's really great to look back on the memories of the event.
Brett made it to the flying field and is out flying at the moment.

Thank you, Ricardo. Hope I can come up with some good pictures once I'm there for you.
Andrew, I appreciate the update. I know how hard you guys work to get there, so I'm happy to record a little history.

Speaking of history, if anybody wants to take a walk down memory lane, here's the site from the 2009 Worlds in Portugal: http://2009worldsportugal.shutterfly.com/

As stated above, the site for the 2011 Worlds is here: http://2011worlds.shutterfly.com/
Not many pictures yet, but with any luck I'll get on the road tomorrow, with a brief side stop in St. Louis along the way.

Spent the day at the Madison County R/C Field. This club graciously allows the members of the various international F3A teams to use their field to prepare for the upcoming tournament.
.
US F3A team members Chip Hyde and Mike Klein were busy preparing for the upcoming Pattern World Championships. Demo pilot AC Glenn also put the finishing touches on his routine.

I will be doing a nightly upload to my Flickr account of all the pictures I take every day. All of the pictures are in their own "set" that you can click on the right side of the web page.
.
Please feel free to download as many pictures as you want for your own use. If you click on a picture a second time, it will open up in a special Flickr view and you can choose different sizes of the pictures and download what you want. There is also a way to order prints thru Flickr as well, but I am not very familiar with that . . .

Thanks for the kind comments, guys!! Unfortunately, I had to come back home for W-O-R-K this week, so I'll be missing the good stuff. I didn't even get to march in the parade since they went in alphabetical order I had to depart for my ride back home. First round is today, so wish our guys well!!
.
BTW - I was talking to one of the team members from Belgium (sorry, I don't remember his name but his contestant ID number is in the photos), and his 2M Vanquish is for sale. He is selling it RTF (minus receiver) for $1850.00 American dollars - I took a good look at it and it is in perfect condition. He is using it for his backup in the WC's - it flies great - he flew a practice P with it.
.
The ESC is Jeti, and the servos are Futaba brushless, the motor is the Torque. He told me that he would be in Muncie until Saturday or Sunday. I am home this week so I will be unable to contact him, so if anyone is interested in a beautiful, RTF 2M Vanquish get ahold of your contact in Muncie and wire some cash!!!
.
Disclaimer - I am only passing along details second-hand, please confirm everything with the seller. . .

Great photos, very interesting.

That Aries fire was no doubt caused by an overheating ESC, a very familiar problem in F5B. I'm amazed at the number of electric setups that have only 80 Amp ESC and yet maximum power is typically close to 3000 watts. The ESC has to work harder at part than full throttle so in my book an 80 amp esc doesn't have enough head room.

Cindy- Thank you for all the photos and commentary. Great stuff in spite of all the heat and activity. Very proud and satisfying to see Team USA in action. Great Job!

Thanks, Jeff, and everybody else for commenting on the site. I just wish I knew these guys well enough to be able to put names under every picture. I'm afraid there is just not enough hours in the day to try to figure it all out.

Once again, I must tell you how much all the support is appreciated.

Looks like a smaller worlds as in earlier bulletins more pilots were coming. Usually there are around 100. Must be the bad economy and the crazy state the world is in lately. This time I will be there as a spectator and am looking forward to be there tomorrow thru Sunday!

It happen after sound check before takeoff ...dont think you overheat a esc in that few seconds....when he should take off the prop just moved a bit and then the smoke and fire came... to bad ..long way from Norway to USA just to do a sound check!!!

Thanks for the info. I still think 80 amp esc is too small but clearly not the problem there. Bad luck for sure.
