RE: 28th WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SOUTH AFRICA 2013

Hope to see everyone here next year. A big turnout would be appreciated in our far flung corner of Africa.

If you consider that you only have to drive 60km's from your first point of call in South Africa (OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg) it sounds (to me anyway) much easier access than some of the previous World Champs!!!!!

If anyone has any non official type questions then Clint and myself (amongst others) will do our best to help. Sunshine is all but guaranteed and after 9am jeans and T-shirt will be fine. Evenings and mornings need a windcheater type jacket and/or pullover. The wind can add a bit of a chill to the air but nothing like what you guys up north are used to. Remember that August in South Africa is the END of winter.

Hi,

Here is bulletin 3 for the World Champs...only a few weeks to go. Hope to see several of you in South Africa next month. It is sure to be a fantastic event, and I know that Bob Skinner and team have been extremely hard at work to ensure it is world class.

Hi,
I'd like to wish all of team USA the very best for the WC;s.
I think the team event is a two horse race and you guys are in it .
I would also like to extend the very best wishes to team GB as well.

Brian

Malcolm H 08-12-2013 03:52 AM

Two horses maybe Brian, but how many wings? :)

All the best to team GB too.

:)
Good question Malcolm.
It will be interesting to see how many Bipes at this - it could be close to 50/50.
Nearly all the rest will have an array of 'winglets'.
I get the impression that quite a few have made a late change - probably at least in part due to altitude density concerns.

Glad to realize those are not in order. Is Jesky really killin' it?! :)

Brenner 08-19-2013 07:51 AM

He's doing well, but so are Christophe and Onda. These are raw scores so there isn't equal exposure to all judges.

mithrandir 08-19-2013 09:15 AM

So.. anyone wanna make a prediction???

Brenner 08-19-2013 09:22 AM

Andrew, Christophe, and then Onda, in that order..

apereira 08-19-2013 09:44 AM

Andrew has an advantage as the other two fly glow, and in the SA skies there are many problems with reference as there are absolutely no clouds, they are flying diagonally to the runway with strong and gusty winds, very complicated and the judging does not seems to be that good as the variable criteria is to great. Yesterday was Onda 473 CPLR 465 and AJ 463, this right now means nothing, only when there are three rounds it might mean something, but these score are higher than anyone else anyway.

Brenner 08-19-2013 10:00 AM

I agree. It's way too early to make any predictions based on scores from one partial round.
