Here is results for last 2 days .
Day #1 #1 Onda YS #2 Akiba Hacker #3 Hatta Hacker #4 Suzuki Neu #5 Yutani Hacker Day #2 #1 Onda YS #2 Akiba Hacker #3 Suzuki Neu #4 Hatta Hacker #5 Yamaguchi YS Day #3 might be a cancel due to the big storm will be there. Seems interesting what they are flying which compared about few years ago. Almost top 4 are Electric in Japan!! T.T |

Day#3 was canceled due to the storm.
They completed 1 preliminary round on Sunday. Here is unofficially final result.( Decided used Preliminary results) #1 Onda 2000.00 #2 Akiba 1956.38 #3 Suzuki 1950.85 #4 Hatta 1885.11 #5Yamaguchi 1852.18 I'll post more later. Thanks. TT |

It's very impressive to me that Akiba-san, Suzuki-san, and Hatta-san have been able to stay at such a competitive level all these years. They've been at this thing for quite a long time.

Yeah, remarkable they have remained so good for so long. And don't forget my hero, Wolfgang Matt. No one else can match is record of flying at championship level for 40+ years.

Hopefully, Wolfgang's son will get back into competition.
Wolfgang is my hero, too. I wrote to him with several questions back in the '80s and he replied promptly and with detailed answers to all my questions. I got to meet him briefly in '89 at the WC held in Virginia beach. He was flying his .60 sized Saphir retrofitted with a YS 120 - the performance was awesome! |

Wolfgang has this very standoffish persona in person but it's not who he is. When I met him at the TOC years ago, and talked with him and Roland at length, they were REALLY nice and funny people. Wolfgang was a crackup once you get him talking. Great guy. In fact, VERY FEW of the people I've met at the top of this hobby/sport of ours have been anything other than super nice people.

OK enough about Wolfgang as this tread is about the Japanese.
I think its is sacriledge that the Japanese too are turning to electric! I am sure Yamada YS is not happy about that. Thanks for Onda-san still flying YS! Good news for this YS flier. |

Electric is possibly superior due to soooo many options in delivering the power, but wet power still works great. To me it's no big deal either way. Heck OS has jumped into E with 2 1/2 feet it seems but still introduce an engine a week. I would not be surprised if YS didn't at least consider it in their board meetings.... But again, so what? People make way too much of the E vs WET. I suppose they are different and WE are competitive by nature BUT, If your thumbs and your eyes take sabbatical what difference does it make what you are propelling with? |

The YS flyers remain. Akiba, and Suzuki were OS flyers and Hatta has flown electric for quite some time now, if I do recall.
I am looking forward to continue to fly YS this year. |
