Very nice modifications Choihjin!! Can you give us more details on the performance of the os gt 33 with the stock muffler on the vanquish ? How are the uplines with the apc 19x10?

This is my next pattern plane and setup up. Now if I could only win the lottery or something. I definately chose the wrong career to support my hobby.

Anyone want to donate a Vanquish and a Gt-33 to the poor. Maybe you could use as a tax deduction.

Hey Patrick, funny you should ask. I have a Vanquish that you can have free of charge. But you will need to come over and get it. I will not ship it. The model is in fine shape except the gear block was broken. I will never get around to repairing it so it's just taking up valuable space

There is no equipment tho. The last time I flew the beastie I had so much fun I ran it out of gas. Of course I landed it away from the landing area and broke its Landing Gear Block. You will have a little repair job but I saw what you did with the other plane so it should be a piece of pie for you.

Patrick/Matt, I live in Cincinnati and am going to NJ for Christmas. I will basically be driving past both of you so I might be able to help transport the plane.

I have a Nissan Frontier with a 6ft bed. With no gear or prop it might fit diagonally across the bed and I have a bed cover. Plane would need to be wrapped in plastic as a little water wicks in the corners, but nothing really gets 'wet' as the moisture ends up going into the channels in the bed liner.

I keep ratchet straps and a couple of bungees in the truck, hopefully Matt will have whatever else is needed to secure the plane...

This is not totally related to this thread but I am considering 'gassifying' a NIB Venus II. I really prefer electric but I don't want to buy special batteries for the plane. If I can make a few 4000mah or 4500mah 10S packs work with my Neu 1512 I'll do it, otherwise it's a 20-30cc gasser to get the gas experience started.

The stock muffler of OS GT33 is known as a real muffler among OS gas engine users, it is not like other stock mufflers. When I fly the mod Vanquish, My club mates did not recognize it has gas engine, but two stroke OS 140 RX glow engine which I have on my another plane. The soft mount also helps to reduce the noises from fuselage, and also APC propeller too. I am not a good F3A flier, but just enjoying without any power deficiency. The weight of the Vanquish is now slightly over 5 kg, 5100g due to some reinforcement on the landing gear mount. The weight I think is nothing for the this powerful gas engine. And also The plane is strong enough for all F3A maneuvers.

Yes. Probably wore out my welcome by now.

The 20-30cc gas engines of today are all sport engines meaning they have the sport pilot in mind re: easy field manners, simple starts, no maintenance, etc etc. Not all make the kind of power pattern people demand.

In my experience the OS GT33 is the best of the bunch re: all of the above except it shows a thoroughbred Pattern Competition pedigree when piped. I suspect the 22cc from OS has similar guts to its bigger brother, but in a smaller package. Good luck with yours

Wow, a free vanquish already modified to accept a gasser, what a deal!!!

Hopefully some companies will take notice of the work you're doing matt and build some pattern planes ready for gas engines out of the box.

The pattern market is a small one. Chris took a huge risk developing a airframe for us fortunately the Vanquish was a fairly popular airframe.

And Nitrowill probably not make a come back like it is in the heli world. Gaui, SAB.... Heli guys like their Nitro.

The future may hold both electric and nitro. YS is still pushing their 4 strokes with ever larger displacement. Electric is very practical in 2 meter Pattern with weight concerns being relatively minor nowadays. BUT, and this is a big BUT, as biplanes become the new rage in Pattern weight restriction will rule. Flying a tinsy bipe places you at somewhat of disadvantage, so guys will opt for the 2 meter bipes. Until the new generation of batteries becomes available which promise more energy density per gram. I think the YS 185 and yet to be released 200 will probably rule for awhile.

Of course, the 2 stoke gassies are making a compelling argument. Except nobody's listening yet....BUT I'm not about to change back to either one of the other choices. Definitely not nitro anyway. Electric maybe! Probably not

To date what are the gasify options. I have been out of the game here for a few months. Job change.

I've seen and handled an RCGF32. It looks like a nice piece of equipment. But have not run one....
I've played with the DLE35 rear exhaust. Same benefits as the Syssa180 but more powerful. A pretty nice engine actually.
I've played with the PTE36R rear exhaust. Same benefits as the Syssa but more problematic. Not recommended
I also don't recommend the Mintor 38cc.
The Revolution 33 looks like a nice product but I don't know anything about it and unless someone gives me one to play with, I will not have personal experience
I just bought the ValleyView 40cc twin. Lightweight, and should be as strong as the OS33, but I have not run it yet.
