After a quick look in the instr.manual for my JR3810(european modell) I saw you could buy an optional "rubber" antanna for the Tx. Does anyone own such an antenna or know anything about it? :spinnyeye

That's a base loaded antenna, it works differently than the standard whip that goes to most radio's. It radiates energy differently than a whip does and doesn't give quiet as much range as a fully length whip but some people love them because of how small they are. As long as you're not using the range limit of your radio to it's max it's probably safe to use.

I don't know where to buy the antenna from JR.But I can recommend the "Smiley RC Power Duck" available at the link.

I have used them for years and love it.

(I'm waiting to see if anyone replies stating that the use of this antenna violates FCC rules.The antenna is a part of the rf circuit, and this antenna is not specificaly "type certified" for use with your transmitter)

Oops! I didn't look to see that you are in Norway.Not much concern about the FCC there. The standard "RC Power Duck
wouldn't work for you then( I'm assuming that you use something other than 72 mhz). I would bet that Smiley can still take care of you though.They have manufactured antennas for HAM radios for many years, and make units for a wide range of frequencies. Give them a call, and tell them what frequency you are using. Post a reply and let us know if they were able to provide something for you.

Just for the record for our U.S. readers.....

R/C transmitters (in the U.S.) are type-certified to work with a unity gain antenna.

A short whip meets that criteria.

I have been using the Smiley Rubber duckey antena with no issues what'so ever on my Multiplex 4000.

It is said that you will loose a small percentage of range but taken into consideration, that your normal range is out of sight in most application, it should not be a problem.

I have tested mine on a test plane flew it to a dot in the sky.

I now only use this antena.

Mr. Update...I emailed the folks at "Smiley Antenna" and they sent a reply.Unfortunately,they say that their antenna Won't work on 35mhz.Looking at the link for the JR "Base Loaded Antenna" ,I see that not only is it WAY overpriced it is only made for 72mhz.

Now Someone has to have an antenna that will work.Do any of you folks know of an RC flexible antenna sold for European frequencies?

I did find that 'Robbe" offers one for 35mhz.It looks very much like the JR unit.There might be a problem with the thread size or the length of the adapter.Either of these should be easy to fix.I don't know where you can order it from though.

Kavan also makes them but in a stiff stick instead of flexible. Since they are european it's more likely they have them in the 35mhz.
