horizon may not let it into the states, but it appears that real changes are heading towards the JR crowd.

And that’s why it’s better to buy a module based Radio!

You cannot tell what type of Spread Spectrum a system is running based on the antennas.

DSMJ will disappear very shortly to be replaced by DMSS in all new systems from JR Propo (thats the Japanese manufacturer and not Horizon who are JR's US importer/distributor)

Only if you bought it from Horizon - if you have the non-US (IE modular) 11X, you can change to whatever comes out . . . it's only Horizon that thinks you need screwing, not JR . . .

Prop washer,

Two parallel antennas is a Hopper...err...Duh..!!
That, my friend, is a load of bollocks.

It has bugger all to do with what way the antennas lie. 2 Antenna wires typically indicate 2 receivers. Have you noticed that they are long feeds ? That allows you to move the antennas into various positions. Whether Horizantal, vertical, slant et al.

indicates nothing of the sort...two antennas are used on ONErx to give diversity of signal..which is why the main and satellite rx's on DSM setups all have two antennas...

there are 2 antennas in DSM2 because as you guys should all know by now, there is one antenna per frequency [X(][X(][X(][8D]

The only Spektrum receivers with two antennae are the AR500 and AR6250/6255. The parkflier receivers, such as the AR6100/6110 are not dual diversity receivers.
All of the DSM2 receivers with satellites have one antenna on the receiver and one on each satellite to achieve directional diversity.
FWIW, what looks like a dual antenna on Spektrum receivers is simply a center fed dipole antenna

"there are 2 antennas in DSM because as you guys should all know by now, there is one antenna per frequency"
If that were true, how does the AR6110 work[:-]

The RD921 has 2 receivers inside, 1 antenna per receiver.... the EA101 has a single receiver but with 2 antennas making it a dipole.

OK, I see that the R921 does have dual path diversity in the main unit.
So with one sat you have a three antennae setup, but no matter how many sat's you have, you still have a single receiver system, just as Lindbergh only had a single engine for his Atlantic crossing. Interesting that JR's new DMSS system seems to be satellite free[8D]

Each EA101 is an independent receiver feeding to the main logic decoder in the main receiver, so you do have more than 1 receiver but agreed a single decoder.

Dual Antenae...No Satellites...err...can you spell,,,HOPPER, its a FHSS, AFHSS, or other iteration....

With DSM and two signal spikes (sources), you need a diverse antenna, i.e. 180 degrees of phase orientation. With a HOPPER you don't need the difersification. Two parallel antennas will work just fine. Denial is NOT a river in Egypt...the Spektrum/JR HOPPERs' are on their way to a RC field near you.

so you're telling me the single frequency localizer antenna systems I've designed with 14 antennas are "hoppers" because they have more than one antenna? News to me..

You don't need multiple antennas for a hopper, nor a multi-frequency DSM system. Two antennas or more provide diversity, not multiple frequency capability. Period.
