Default Genie screw drive lube for servos

Hi All,

Got some used Futaba servos. Opened them up and would like to add some lube to the gears and shafts. I was wondering if anyone knows what makes up "Genie garage door screw drive lubricant"? Can't find any info online. Does anyone know it's make up or have used it before. Worried about the plastic gears. The older tubes of Genie lube were called "Lubriplate" which many of you have said you used. But, the newer tubes do not indicate "Lubriplate".

Thanks

Tom

Lubriplate was a stuff I remember lubricating some of the high wear stuff on the WWII M-1 rifle I used to carry. I would not recomment it on servos, it tends to harden up with age were it is not excersized. The recommended stuff these days is silicon grease.

Try SuperLube silicone grease with PTFE available at ACE hardware and rumored to be at Walmart.

Servos do not really need any lubrication.

But in the same line of thinking I have used a dab of white petroleum jelly USP on the output shaft and the pinion driving the last gear on the output shaft; nowhere else.

It never did any harm. It made me feel better justified or not.

Happy New Year
