I want to warn non-European users NOT to download this software either. There are times when the update contains region specific information and it can be a bad thing to have the wrong version. Generally we here in the US/North America only lag a few days or so at worse, so why take a chance??

I have the upgrade but havent installed it yet as the radio doesnt show up until later this week. I know a few guys here that have it installed already and so far so good. I am a bit scared to install it as what will happen to my new radio IF something were to mess up. So any work on when a US version is going to be out?

Folks, there are no finished versions of the software out yet. When Futaba calls it final we will post it immediately with all of the cool new features it has to offer. In the meantime, we suggest you continue to run the awesome software the 8FG already has to offer.

Hi Steve,
Looks like Futaba won't be represented at the WRAM show this year, again.[&o]
With S-Bus, I would think having a presence at the show would be a good thing, as a lot of folks have questions.
Very excited about the new S-bus receiver[8D]

Hi Pete,

No, we won't be there this year unfortunately. It's always been a good show, but we can't always attend everything.

Steve, maybe that is a fair that should be important? S-bus is a new technology and the detractors are lining up to pick holes in it. Maybe a stall at some show that gets major coverage?

We actually attend almost every major trade show in the US and most large flying events. We first introduced S.Bus at Toledo this past April, I also conducted a seminar at that show. WRAMS is about the only major show we've been unable to attend this year.

I'm actually traveling to Toledo late this week to conduct a seminar at the Weak Signals club, and will do another one at our own E-Fest on February 12.

I asked this question earlier in this thread, I believe.

As I understand Futaba's S-Bus, that I saw demonstrated at the Toledo Show, last year, if you chose not to use the Futaba Programmable Servos, you could install a module that would allow you to use other Futaba servos, or other manufacturer's servos, and program the Module, instead.

I realize this is not the best scenario, but am I correctly stating the alternative options?

Yes, use the S-Bus decoder cables.

The serial bus address is assigned to the decoder and it talks to the servo directly.
Snag is you need one for every servo and they are not exactly cheap since they are effectively the brains behind any std servo.
Whats really great about the decoder cable is that you can use any other servo, analogue or digital!

Each SBD-1 will actually handle three different channels, not just one. You can program each of the outputs to respond to whatever channel you desire.
