RE: Aurora 2.4 any good??
When someone starts a thread about which radio to buy, the brand zealots come out of the woodwork and the war begins. There are many models to choose from. I would also check out the long running thread on the A 9. I have not seen any bad press on this radio and while I have never owned a Hitec Tx, I have purchased many of their serves and I have never been disappointed. Warranty and service has been great.
I, personally, have a JR 9303.

RE: Aurora 2.4 any good??
My last post was from my Android cell phone which takes more time and effort to do. I was typing while MinnFlyer was posting.
I think the Futaba 8FG is an excellent choice and the S-Bus technology is also very interesting. I believe Futaba's 14MZ offers more channels than most other manufacturers.
The Spektrum DX8 is also a great choice. The programming is easy to use and like the Hitec A9, it offers Telemetry options.
JR offers the X9303, 9503, 11X, and 12X. I have not been disappointed with both of my XP9303's, with the 72Mhz Synthesized RF Module and the Spektrum 2.4Ghz Module.
Aritronics offers the RDS8000 and the SD-10G
As you know, the Hitec A9 offers Telemetry and the RF is Modular, so you can use 72Mhz RF Modules, as well. There are 3rd party 2.4 RF Modules, with matching Rx's, that give you additional options for most radios that are compatible with RF Modules. Spektrum, Futaba, Hitec, and XPS, to name a few.

I have an SD-10G and love it. The price point is good, at $369 for the radio and a 7ch RX it's hard to beat and there are a lot of sailplane guys using it. Please do a little homework on the radios you you are interested in and make an informed decision.

I would think you could find some XP9303's on RCU, eBay, etc. While I think the XP9303 is every bit as good as the X9303 2.4, the X9303 has less Latency (quicker response from servos when you move the sticks), and the X9303 has Model Match and Servo Sync. The 9503, 11X, and 12X might entice people to move up from the XP9303. I believe there is a version 12MX that supports the use of older RF Modules, as well.

RE: Aurora 2.4 any good??
I've had my aurora for a couple of weeks and so far I'm very pleased with it. Did you try re-calibrating the touch screen? I'm going to test out this system in my ultrastick for a few weeks before I put it in my gasser. But so far, the A9 rocks.

I have an Aurora, I am very happy with it, but I will fully admit that I have not used it as much as I would like. One thing that i like about the Aurora compared to other radios is the rx prices, I have not checked lately, but Futaba's rx prices seemed very high, but maybe they have some cheaper options now. I guess it really depends on what your budget is like, how many planes you want rx's for and what features you think that you would like. I do LOVE being able to see the rx batteries voltage easily and all the time.
Just my 2 cents
