Hitec/Futaba difference??
Hey all,
Tried to buy a Hitec Supreme 8 the other day at the LHS for my Futaba system, and all he had on the shelf was one for "Hitec".
He wouldn't sell it to me as "It's for the wrong system"
Both brands are Negative shift and compatible, so....
What is the difference??

Hitec/Futaba difference??
I don't know of any difference. I use Hitec receivers and Futaba Tx.
Is it possible the receiver he had was for a surface frequency rather than aircraft? (Or it might have been for aircraft frequency if you were looking for surface).
My guess is that would qualify as "wrong system" to some people.
Just a guess....

Hitec/Futaba difference??
Well, I know that Hitec markets 3 variations: Fut., Hit. and JR/Air. I always assumed the only difference between Fut. and Hit. was the J/S plugs. Funny thing is the "Hitec specific" labeled box had a receiver w/ "J" receptacles.
I'm thinking it's just a misunderstanding.

Hitec/Futaba difference??
The 3200 and 3500 are identical except for the case but since the 3500 has the "U-hole" it will accept standard Futaba connectors so the Hitec version (3500) will work fine for either system. Our new receivers are only available in two versions; positive and negative shift.

Jumbo, a lot of us 'give a beeeeeeep'. And try to support the LHS as much as possible. The day the LHS disappears altogether will be sad indeed. Its at that point that we will all be in trouble.
The fact is CO-Zman nor his local dealer made any mistakes and the dealer did very much the right thing in not selling him the wrong Hitec Rx which would have required him to cut the tabs off of his plugs, fine for someone who knows and accepts that but certainly not a newbie who has to deal with enough already.
Kudos to CO-ZMans's dealer and to Hitec who will have a represenative come on these open forums in an effort to clear up these common confusions.
CO-ZMan you have a great dealer try to take care of him as he did for you.
John

Hitec/Futaba difference??
John,
Thanks. I do like supporting the shop. They are by far the best in Denver. It's like walking into a Tower Hobbies warehouse ... or a (big)kid in a candy store .
I tried to tell him it would work, but didn't feel like pressing. Figured I'd find another way to show him the specs.
So, yes - Support the LHS folks! And get rid of these evening thunderstoms in Denver so I can Fly!!! :stupid:
