Default Antenna length

I know this ? has been asked a million times but i'm going to ask it again.... I know a shortened ant will limit some of the range.. But what about legthening a ant.. say in using a scale sort of set up... my scale ant will be about 46-50" so about 12" longer than the standard meter long on out of the rec...Is the meter a tuned legth? and shouldn't be tampered with.....

Default Antenna length

Longer may pick up unintended signals (Ie more adjecant channel noise) Just range check it.
