Default Programming Snap Ailerons on 9C

I was reading about snap ailerons in some 3D thread and was wondering how to program them on the Futaba 9C...

I want the flaps to come up 25% when the elevator is up 75% or more.

Appreciate any help.

To program the snap-roll switch:

1. Press MODE/PAGE until your ADVANCE (mixing) menu comes up.

2.Scroll down to *SNAP-ROLL and press the dial.

3. Using the Cursor buttons, click up to MIX>INH and turn the dial counter-clockwise so it says OFF.

4. Using the Cursor buttons, click down to AIL> and input the amount of aileron you want.

5. Click down to ELE> and input the amount of elevator throw you want

6. Click down to RUD> and input the amount of Rudder throw you want.

7. IF you want the snap switch on a saftey, click down to where it says SAFE-MOD>FREE and rotate the dial until it says OFF. Your landing gear switch (make sure your Channel 5 is not inhibited) is now your snap switch safety. Deploying your landing gear (or at least flipping the switch so it would) will now inhibit you snap switch. Retracting them (or adjusting the switch to such a position) will make the snap switch active.

8. For snap direction, click down to DIR-SW-1> and/or 2> and select a switch(s) for your snap direction. Repeat steps 1-6 to set up your other snap directions.

Hope this helps.

i think he was refering to snap-spoilerons, which needs to be a multi-point mix. its like flaperon mixing that doesnt work untill you get to 3/4 elevator stick. does the 9C have a multi-point mix or a mix offset that might work?

the 9C has two multi-point mixes, programmable mix 6 & 7.
I did this on my funtana, but doing so required using both mixes.

On the first mix, I slaved the aileron channel to the elevator, and set the points to give me the desired spoileron deflection with high-rate elev. I set my curve to 70% aileron at 100% elevator (when the elevator is on high-rate), 15% at 75% elev, and 0% at 50% & 25% elev.

The second mix is setup identically, only I slaved the flap channel to elevator so that both ailerons deflect the same direction and travel when I input enough elevator.

This gave the effect that when snap-spoilerons are switched on, the spoilerons only deflect up when I've input 75% or more of total elevator throw...so if I forget to turn them off, but flip back to low-rate elevator, the spoilerons aren't deploying when I'm flaring for landing.

Hope this helps

Shame you don't have a 9Z, you could, instead of a multipoint mix, simply use a "trigger mix" where the mix doesn't trigger until a certain point on the elevator stick. but 9C won't do this on any channel but throttle.

However, on 9C, you do need only one mix, with link ON, to get the flaperons to both respond. master is elevator, slave is flap, link ON.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for pointing that out AnnMarie...I did some more tinkering and I did get it working with only one mix.
Nice plug for the 9Z as well.

I got it to work with 2 mixes, but not 1. When I turn the Link ON for Mix 6 (Master = Elevator, Slave = Aileron) it moves the other aileron in the wrong direction - down instead of up. I tried it with Elevator / Flap and it does the same thing, but in the other direction.

I'm just happy I got it to work with 2 mixes...

Default RE: Programming Snap Ailerons on 9C

Could someone advise whether when programming for snap ailerons you only do this for up elevator ie up elevator gives up flap or do you also program for down elevator gives down flap?

Thanks

Malcolm
