FCC approval required for 2.4G Orange & FrSky FASST Clones ???
Does 2.4GHz Receivers requires FCC approval if they don't transmit and only receive?
FrSky and Orange clone Futaba FASST receiver are passive and I don't think they are FCC approved.
Thanks

For whatever it is worth, my genuine Futaba FASST receivers all have an FCC logo on them and the wording: "Tested to comply with FCC standards"
To me that seems to indicate that some sort of compliance testing is required, even of the receivers.

Silent-AV8R,
Since it say "Tested to comply with FCC standards", and there is no FCC ID number on it, it does not have to be approved by the FCC.
As far as my understanding, if it transmit, it must have FCC ID.
Thanks

I went to Hobbytown USA today and checked out the some Rx.
The genuine Futaba FASST Rx had "Tested to comply with FCC standards" with no FCC ID. I also checked the Tactic Rx and it had nothing on it either. This means that the FrSky FASST compatible Rx does not require FCC approval either.
The Hitec's Optic 6 2.4GHz receiver had FCC ID: IFHOPT6-24G because it’s a transceiver and not just a receiver.
Thanks

The Rx may not radiate intentionaly but probably do unintentionaly as they have RF circuits and probably RF local oscilator. Because a RX has no FCC sticker does not mean it does not need one. It just may mean the China guys save a few $K dollars not testing and getting them certified. Has anyone looked at the equivalent brand TX and see if they have FCC stickers.

Not sure I agree with that interpretation. If is is tested to comply with a standard, that means there is a standard. The labeling tells you it is in compliance. Transmitters need the FCC ID number, but other devices can be required to comply with a standard and certify as such by labeling the product.

Also
ALL of the 2.4 rx transmit - at least all that I use- transmit
This is the handshake req'd to determine type of rx being used.

My FrSky instruction manual for their V8 2.4 GHz system has a section labelled FCC Statement, which basically states that their equipment complys with the FCC Rules.
